Pregnancy and weight gain

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and have already gained 12lbs.
I was a keen runner before expecting and I watched what I ate, but due to health worries I have been unable to run and I'm struggling to change my mindset about the weight gain. I'm concerned that once little one is here, I'm not going to be able to shift the excess pounds. If I've put on 12lbs already in 16 weeks, how many more will I gain over the next 24?!
Any support would be greatly received.

Everyone is different when it comes to weight gain during pregnancy. For me, I gained 100lbs with my first and 80lbs with my second....I lost 80lbs after my first, but I could never get back to pre pregnancy weight, and after my second, only about had came off....
But I'm really into CrossFit, and it has helped a lot!
Just don't let the doctors discourage you saying you've gained too much...my OB obviously said that to me, but I didn't develope diabetes or have any health problems. My body just has a negative effect when pregnant.
So don't stress. Just don't overeat and workout like you did before conceiving and all will be fine! I'm 19weeks and have gained 10lbs, but I'm also not going to get on the scale during this pregnancy! I'm just going to continue working out and eating right!
Good luck, and congratulations!!0 -
Congratulations! If running is out of the question, is fast walking ok? You can burn a lot of calories without as much impact (assuming that's the reason you were told not to run), and you'll still get a good aerobic workout. If that's not ok, ask your OB what exercise you can do safely.0
