How long did it take you to lose weight?

I'm just wondering because I took me 2 months to lose the first 10 pounds, and now I want to lose the last 5 this month, and it's proving to be way more difficult than the first ten pounds was. I'm wondering if my weight loss goals were realistic, so if there's anyone around my height and weight, or anyone who has experience in the difficulties of losing the last couple of pounds, how long did it take you to reach that point?
My height is 5'4"
My current weight is 150

Just about 9 months for 76 lbs. The last 10 took about 2 months...just the way it works, as you near your goal your body seems to know to slow down. But, keep at it and they will go as well.

40lbs have taken me 2 years. No matter how long it takes for the remaining lbs, it'll be faster than how I gained them. :)

This was an interesting question.. because I'm having trouble with continuing to gain weight.. I finally seemed to flatten out at 156 lbs, but it's frustrating since I run 40 minutes or more five times a week along with biking.. how did you guys lost your weight? Was there a method that made you lose weight faster?

41lbs since march 7th (3.5 months), but i have alot more to loose than you. I expect to be at below 200 by the end of the year, but figure my last 30lbs will take 6months.. your last takes longer because your body doesnt burn as much calories doing activities, and also ur calorie allotment is at its minimum so its hard for ur body to loose at that level.

You are fairly close to your goal so 1/2-1 pound a week would be the MAX I would should for to lose if I were you.

I'm within 18lbs of my goal now and it will probably take me til Thanksgiving to finish IF I stay completely on track and don't plateau now (I've been lucky and not really had one).

I lost the first 65lbs in 10 months, and I average about 1.5lbs a week

I have been on this low calorie diet for 14 days now and I have not weighed myself, but I seriously don't feel like my body has lost anything at all. I don't even want to weigh myself until I've been doing it for atleast 4 weeks because I'll just be discouraged and give up.

i've lost 17ish lbs in 4 months. I have about 15 lbs to go to get to my goal weight of 130!
the lbs came off fast at first (2-3 lbs a week) and now its about .5 lbs week. As long as its a downward trend im happy!!

If you only had 15 pounds to lose, I hope that you had your goals set to lose a pound per week or even .5 lbs per week. If not, you should be set for .5 lbs per week at this point with only 5 to go.

I had 33lbs to lose, and in 125 days I've lost over 30 of it. It's been pretty steady, excepting TOM weeks where I held steady for a week and then had a big drop (now I might lose .5 lb during TOM week).

As you are so close to your goal, it becomes very important to accurately log and to really look at the composition of your diet. You might also need to shake up your exercise plan at this point.

Lost 52 lbs in six months. It has not been easy but if stick to your goals, the weight falls off. Hardest part was the first couple months. Useing Fitness Pal helps reach and track your goals. I don't feel as though I have been on a diet but a lifestyle change. I like eating different than before, feels heathier!

Lost 33 lbs since 9/1/10. Seems like its going SO slow but I cant work out 4 hours a day and I want to do this the healthy way through diet and exercise alone. So, slow is better than not at all. Have another 20 or so to go...will probably take another 5-6 months. One day at a time! :)

70lbs in the first 7 months, then it took me 2.5 years to lose the other 90. I have 20 of it back on and have been about 3 weeks and have lost 8.

I have lost ~ 19 lbs since april 25. I started off not so serious but the last few weeks I have been very serious. I tried to read as many of these replies and didn't see anything about % of fat and % of muscle. Seeing the number on the scale decrease in pounds is what I want to see....but every month I weigh in my % of body fat and % muscle. It makes me feel good to know my fat% is decreasing and my muscle % is increasing. This is such a long process for all of us! Keep strong and keep moving!!!

6 months to lose 20 pounds. Now my body is slowing down and keeps fluctuating between 159 and 160.5/161.
  • 60 lbs in 90 days. The first 20 came off 30 days before I joined MFP.

slow and steady wins the race. if you are a slow loser, and LEARN as you LOSE, you will maintain much easier..... :) just sayin'....

In 6 months I've gone from a starting weight of 167 to my current weight of 140 (which was initially my goal.) I'd now like to lose maybe 5 more lbs, but this last 5 is a lot more stubborn than the first 25, lol! Plus it's trickier finding my balance now, because in my initial weight loss phase I wasn't exercising because of some health issues. After having surgery in late February, I'm now healthy and have been exercising daily for the past month or so. That means I have to decide each day how many exercise calories I want to eat back, and I've had varying results with that. In the beginning I was just eating 1200 calories, logging everything religiously, and it worked great. I also proved to myself that at least for me, it really IS calories in vs. calories out since I was not exercising and I still lost the weight. However, I feel much better and healthier now that I am. :-)
