Hello,
I am trying to lose a few pounds and am interested in the lower carb/higher protein diet. However I only run four/five times a week between 4 and 6 miles and don't really do any weight training. Therefore what should my daily protein intake be? Is it possible to have too much protein?

Protein can be 0.8-1.2 g/lb total body weight. Some people rather say minimum 1.0 g/lb lean body mass.
I don't think there are any studies really testing a healthy maximum protein level.1
