Just discovered this site and am pretty excited about it. I've tried a lot of different programs to loose weight over the years - some very costly. Lost 42 lbs on Weight Watchers several years ago, even made Lifetime Membership, but the weight slowly crept back up. I didn't gain it all back, but I found out fairly quickly that for me, loosing is much easier than maintaining. I guess I need the motivation and challenge of daily goals. I've gone back to WW several times, but the program is too familiar and I loose interest. Anyone else out there with this experience? I need to loose about 30 lbs. and the older I get the harder it is to loose.

Just saw your post today. I did Weight Watchers but always failed to keep going to meetings. I think this site is better. There are a lot of great supportive people here! The most important part is to participate and log everything you eat daily. good Luck and send me a friend request if you like/Cindy

I have been using this app for a few years, but am trying to be consistent this year. I have lost 13 # since January, but am "stuck" now. I am an older gal- 58, and agree it is definitely more difficult as you get older. I have done WW also! I did like it, and believe it is a great program, but MyFitnessPal is very convenient and easy. Having friends is motivating. Would love to swap recipes and ideas. Good luck!

I'm not sure how to use this community site, but I'm 60 and just starting. I could use motivation and tips to FINALLY lose weight and be healthy!! Your post caught my attention. Sounds like a familiar story.

@BeverlyandDavid1984 - your story sounds so very similar to mine! However, I would like to lose about 50#. I have had the MFP app for a couple of years but just began really using it to track calories (food, exercise and water) since March 2016. I haven't really lost any weight yet do to speak; but I have dropped 3" in my waist size.
@jentaubert; @anna55banana; @IWTBFCIN3 - would love to join this group and support each other in our all-too-familiar weight loss journeys!

The novelty wears off with all diets I think... especially if you're (like me) a yoyo dieter.. Part of me thinks I prefer being fat sometimes so I can go through the process of the excitement in losing it and having something to focus on! lol
WeightWatchers all you have done? If you like that kind of theme... you could count Sins with Slimming World instead, lol or just count calories which would be so much easier to do on here at home than at a meeting. You can still take the recipes from the clubs/magazines and just enter them in your food diary for the calorie count if you liked that way of eating.

If you're totally bored with that, remember all the other things out there to try.. weight loss shakes, ready meals diet, low carbing, all you can eat within certain food groups, low fat, high fat.. they're not for everyone but if you are seriously bored they could be the motivation kick you need.

You can also change the nutrient percentages in your food diary too.. to record more protein, fat, less salt, sugar etc.
I think you'll enjoy it, it's one of the most useful sites I have ever signed up with!x

What you'll find here other than dieting are people changing their lives through exercise and choices. Give it a try

I am diabetic and 69 years old was wondering about this diet I have been on it for 9 days have lost 5 pds but I cannot eat this amt of calories and keep my blood sugars as high as they need to be after 5 days it gets kinda crazy I think I will need to eat some of my exercise calories to survive I must readjust my self for more carbs but it can be done

@Briarhopper2 - Sounds like you have a good understanding of diabetes. It can for sure be tricky and stubborn! 5# is awesome - but definitely you need to make sure it is a healthy loss.

I am working on building more lean body mass and doing weight bearing exercises to help with my arthritis and osteoporosis. Weight loss has been slow - but I plan on keeping my chin up and following dietary recommendations.

I'll be turning 60 this summer. For some time I've been struggling with my weight. Still not giving up. I'm a retired postal worker. Currently a crossing guard for my police dept and volunteer at my local animal shelter. Due to on the job injuries, and past joint replacements I'm restricted on how much I'm able to lift. So my program means eating right, low impact exercises, avoiding or limiting processed carbs, sugars, and getting fresh fruit and vegetable in my diet. I wear a fitbit. Feel free to add me as a friend here as we're all in this together
