What and when should I eat if I am working at night and sleeping during the day?

Eat the same foods you would if your schedule was reversed.

My husband works nights and finds that setting his diary to time frames was easier for logging. My diary is set up the same way. I like seeing when I eat and don't really care what "meal" it was. If say I ate something tonight at midnight, it would go into my 12 am- 7 am time slot for the day I ate (so in this case at midnight it will be April 9 and I would log the food then).

    Meal timing is irrelevant.

I'm a RN and work 7pm-7am. I usually eat a big meal before I go in, a smaller meal around 11pm or so, and then eat lightly the rest of the night. I usually snack on fruits and veggies and have a protein shake made with almond milk sometime after 11pm. I don't do that for meal timing purposes, but I am able to not feel so tired through the night and sleep better by the time I'm done if I don't eat so heavy later in my shift. When I was 11pm-7:30m I did something similar. A bigger meal before I went in, a smaller meal while I was there, and snacked where/if I needed to. I also don't have MFP track my steps to take calories off. I could end up walking up to 5 miles in a shift. The only calories I log are exercise calories.
