I used to be in awesome shape ... I USED to weigh my goal weight until I trained for my first marathon. I gained 15 pounds training for the first one 2 years ago and another 10 while I trained for last years and this years. It's a real skill to run 40+ miles a week and still gain weight.

No it's not muscle.
My thyroid is fine.
I lost the self control that I used to preach to others.
Karma.

I also used to be in great shape, did a Spartan Beast and everything. I don't know what happened. My depression and anxiety caught up to me I guess, and I just stopped exercising and stopped paying attention to what I was eating.

Hey Ladies! I'm a runner also! I'm a bit of a late bloomer as I didn't start running until after I had my daughter at 43. Been running for ~7 years now.

@Runningforafew - You crack me up with your comment about it taking real skill to run 40 miles a week and gain weight! We have that in common! I was running 30-35 miles a week last year and couldn't figure out why I was hovering in the overweight BMI category lol Then I gave myself a stress fracture and was laid off running for 7 months, and took the opportunity to focus on my diet. Without all the running, I dropped 20 pounds and hit my goal weight, although it took 8 months to do it. I'm back to running 5 days a week now, I'm at my goal weight of 145, and really have to watch my appetite as I increase my mileage for a half-marathon I'm training for in the Fall!

Would love to add you and @kcongel90 as friends!
