Hi. I have been using the scales at my local boots once a week since i started my weightloss. I have seen people say they are not accurate? If i use the same ones every week at simular times of day will this not make them accurate? I have lost 2stone 10lbs. I really dont wsnt to think il get on some other scales and have not lost as much as i thought. Also today i nipped in after work (due to different shifts) i knew it wouldnt be my true weight as iv dranks and eaten at work. Last week i was 12stone 1lbs. Today i was 12stone 3lbs. Is this a common lb gain throughout the day? By 2lbs?
Thanks in advance x

The best scenario to weigh yourself is under the same conditions each day... usually the easiest way to do this is first thing in the morning. I would encourage you to grab a cheap scale and put it somewhere convenient at home.
I think 2 lb swing through a day is pretty typically. I personally have seen anywhere from 3-7 lbs gained throughout a day. And then I lose about 2.5-3 lbs while sleeping.1 -
Who knows how long ago that scale was set up/calibrated, and how it was/is abused. etc. as to saying the reading is really accurate - you just don't know. What you wear, when you weigh, etc. can all play a factor into seeing different results, which is why most people weigh in the morning with the same clothes to ensure that those variables stay the same at least.
You may see fluctuation in the scale throughout the day, just the way the body works!0 -
I love my Aria wi fi scale from fit bit. It logs my weight & body fat %, syncs to MFP and I can look up what I weighed on any day since I got it. Very interesting to look at a graph that covers years to see how things affect you. I use it once a day in the morning.1

I go up 2-3 pounds as the the goes on and lose it over night most nights. Slight fluctuation usually tending downward as I'm in a deficit currently. I use a scale in the morning every day at home.0

I gain/lose about 6 lbs during the day. I am lightest mid-afternoon post-workout and pre-dinner (probably dehydrated). Then I "gain" 4 lbs from eating dinner. And "lose" 2 lbs sleeping overnight. Most of these are all water or volume of food related.
Agree it's best to weigh in the same clothes at the same time of day. Most people weigh first thing after using the bathroom, either in the same clothes or in no clothes. I find that is when my weight is the most consistent, the afternoon and evening weights can vary a lot depending on how hydrated I am, how hard I worked out, or how much I ate for dinner.0 -
Thanks guys i have a cheap set of scales at home but honestly they are crap! I am going to look into investing in a new pair the fitbit ones sound good and maybe the old school salter doctors scales? I dont like digital ones as i just dont trust them thankyoi for your input on the lb gain through the day! Xxx0

I have the Eat Smart Digital scale, bought it at Target I think, but it's available online (I have their food scale, so I trusted it). I've dragged that poor thing on 2 different moves across multiple states and it still is working fine. It's simple, basic, has a light up display that's a good size, and I didn't have to worry about breaking it since it's rated for 400lbs.
The problem with the non-digital version is the springs, when they start to wear, you can see flux problems in the weighing. I did some research on digital vs mechanical scales (just google that to see various reviews) and decided on that to go digital. Up to you of course!0
