Hystorectomy End of May

I have to have a hysterectomy at the end of May. My goal is to go into the surgery as fit as I can get, and about 10 pounds lighter. Does ten pounds seem reasonable in roughly six weeks?

Best tips you can give?

I have successfully lost 30 pounds in 6 months, but I know I have not been as strict as I need to be! Are there any programs that are 6 weeks long and meant to help build muscle?

Thanks in advance for any pointers!

Off the subject: I was told to take a multivitamin and also take Vitamin C 1,000 mg daily.
Don't take things like fish oil or vitamin E. No herbals.
Also, you may suffer constipation after the operation. Have prune juice handy.
More: Stock up your freezer with foods your husband can prepare for you quickly.
    - things like frozen pre-cooked chicken breast fillets, frozen veggies, etc.

Right now I am taking a multi, vitamin c, d3, coqu10, b12, and hair skin & nails. I was using melatonin to help me sleep but found it to be useless.

Hi! I had my hysterectomy last June. I'm sure you can lose those pounds if you really want to, but in my opinion I would focus on gaining strength and nutrition. You probably won't be able to lift more than 10 pounds for a few weeks after and you will feel week as a kitten in the beginning. I had laproscopic and it was still difficult on my ab muscles. I wish I had done more core work ahead of time. Also check out the HysterSisters website and forums for more info. Good luck with your surgery! It was the best thing I ever did.

Please make sure you give your body time to heal. I had a vaginal hysterectomy last summer and it kicked my butt.

Keep lots of fluids (water/tea since you want to lose weight) and soups/broth on hand. You want your system to keep working smoothly and the pain meds are binding!!! (I learned that the hard way)
