Mindless eaters out there

When I was 19, my mom didn't really have money to buy food so there was some days I would eat just corn etc. But I always hung out with friends which took my mine off of food. When I meet my husband he introduce me to applebees and nice restaurant that I have never been to. And I love the food. Now since I have a full time job all I want to do is eat at those restaurants eat sweets that I never ate. I had money to eat. So I did . Now I'm at my job looking a t a thin lady eating a honey bun. She will take one bite and wait thirty to an hour to take another bite. I can't take a bite of something good like that and finish it.
I don't even have to be hungry and if I see free food that I know is good I will run over there and overeat. Regretting it afterwards. I know it's mind over matter. It's hard though. Advice please

I think it can be hard when it's like feast or famine if that makes sense? What we learn as children does stick with us it seems for a lifetime. I came from a clean your plate approach and don't waste food. Ugh. But when I force myself to eat I feel sick and horrible. I think it all comes down to not being gluttons. With anything really. For the person who struggles with alcohol...it's taking that drink and not being able to stop. For some of us, it's eating that yummy honey bun or piece of vanilla cake with thick buttercream frosting and not being able to stop. I know where you're coming from. You're not alone! I think it is a mind over matter but I also love this truth verse. Maybe it will help you. I hope it doesn't come across as preaching because it's not my intention. " I can do all things through Christ Jesus who gives me strength."Philippians 4:14...even eating healthier.
