Hi all, I'm totally new to this idea of using whey protein but as far as i know, from google it does help with weight loss? I recently purchased Protein Works Whey Powder 80, and am wanting to incorporate this into my daily routine, but has using protein powders helped anyone in this area? What level of exercise did you do? And how much did you loose, if any?
I'm not super focused on muscle gain currently (later on, yes) as i still have around 40lb of weight to loose.
My current weight: 167lb
Height: 5ft4
Goal Weight: 120-140lb
Calorie Intake currently - 1,500 calories
Exercise level - Aiming for 3 times a week of cardio for an hour
I'd really appreciate some suggestions. Thanks!

It's not the cause of weight loss. You need to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight. Whey protein is a source of protein, just like chicken, eggs, beef etc.Protein helps with muscle recovery and repair. It also keeps you full. I like adding whey to my smoothies in the morning! You can also make protein pancakes, protein oats. There are many recipes on youtube and online. Just remember, whey protein isn't going to make you lose weight. If you're in a surplus and having whey protein, you will gain. If you're eating at maintenance and having whey protein, you'll maintain your weight. All whey protein is a source of protein to help you meet your daily protein intake. If you want to lose weight, eat in a caloric deficit!2

Protein supplements make sure you get enough protein
a calorie deficit is what you need for weight loss1 -
Taking protein in and of itself will not make you lose body fat or gain muscle. All whey protein does is help you reach your protein intake goal for the day. Hitting an appropriate protein intake will help you retain muscle as you diet down in weight, which is a great thing! If you are able to hit your protein intake without a whey supplement, then you don't need it. However, some people have trouble getting in ~120-140 g of protein/day without using a supplement. If that's you, then whey protein is an excellent supplement to take!1

It's a protein supplement. Useful if you have trouble meeting your protein goal. Eating enough protein is important as you lose weight to spare muscle loss. You want to lose fat, not muscle. Overall deficit is what causes weight loss & whey can be part of your diet, but doesn't have to be.0

Oh i see, that's really interesting - looking at my daily food intake - i don't seem to eat high protein foods so I guess it will be useful for reaching that goal! Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated :]0
