Does anyone have or know of a good refried beans recipe. The can ones are way too high in sodium and i have high blood pressure. If any members do can you share your recipe and how long it will keep in the fridge.

I heat up some whole beans with a little bit of water and then stick a potato masher to them. You can also mash them with a fork but it requires more elbow grease.
From there, add some oil (I prefer coconut oil for taste) and seasonings.
I use cumin and oregano for the most part. I still add salt as well.
Peas/carrots are also nice to throw in. Gives the mixture some sweetness.0 -
I like this recipe, I ended up adding half the amount of salt but could have gone with even less. I don't know how long it'll keep in the fridge but I froze my leftovers in individual portions and thawed as needed.

There won't be much sodium as long as you use dry beans. To be fair though, I used double the beans to limit the fat content per serving, and it was a bit dry. Made a huge amount though and it lasted a week in the fridge.
I still like the canned stuff better... Sigh.0
