The half way point...

A few lbs ago I got to what was probably the half way (half weigh?) point. From 288 lbs to 218 lbs. I have done it pretty slowly, because I wanted my body to have time to adjust and also because I have to try and stay balanced as if I get too worried about losing weight, I tend not to eat properly and I've been really trying to improve my metabolism. To be medically not overweight, I need to get to about 155lbs. Although I've still got a lot to lose, I'm really happy as I've now 70lbs lost as of today. At the moment, I'm really excited about getting towards and under the 200 mark. Does it get harder to lose as you get closer to target or easier because you're lighter? I know when I first started exercising it was really difficult and hurt but got easier and a lot more doable. Any advice much appreciated!

It does get harder because your calorie needs go down as you lose. The closer you are the your goal (especially less than 20lbs) the tighter you need to be with logging.
You should be recalculating your calorie goals every so often, probably every 20lbs lost)
