Hi All! I started getting back into running on Sunday. I started at 8K, Monday 7k and then Wednesday I went 10k. Not surprisingly, after rushing into things, I developed a sore knee. So I've been walking since then. How long should I give this sore knee a break from running? I'm really wanting to get going again but don't know how long I should wait? (It still is sore-I'm wondering if I wait until it feels completely normal before resuming)?

And clearly, I will start much slower this time when I resume running again.

Wait until it's no longer sore. Sorry.

    Depends why it is sore.
Definitely no running until soreness is gone.
I'd suggest keeping walking to light and short again until soreness is gone.

It's just sore (to the best of my knowledge) because I went from not running, to a whole bunch in three days.

Awesome, I'm happy I can still keep active by walking. :)

    Thanks!

you could use a stationary bike to help it heal. and ice , etc. But dont start running so much. you need to get on a program like c25k to give your joints a chance to toughen up.

    Solid tip, thanks sincerely! :)
Yes, I certainly learned my lesson, I will find something geared towards easing me into it...as soon as the injury feels healed.

I've had lots of sore joints in my time, never a runner, and just completed c25k yesterday with a 30 min run. I have not one ounce of joint pain throughout the program.
