HELP.... Drinking wine is my problem

I do love a glass or 3 of wine in the evening then I nibble on savoury..... I need encouragement to stop tipping the wine which tips the calories !!!

Don't drink the wine as much, there - is that enough encouragement?

Mel I love my wine as well. For me the only answer was to cut it out completely. Trying to have a glass a day was a big fail as it inevitable led to another glass or 2...

Now it's a pint of water next to me.

    You can do it!

I was the same, but I found wine in the evening was more a way to unwind after a stressful work day. It becomes a habit which you can replace with a different habit. Here's what I do now... I keep my favorite iced tea (Tazo Passion) at all times in my fridge. In the evening if I want wine, I serve it in a wine glass with a Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a little liquid stevia. You won't get the buzz obviously, but try deep breathing/meditation for 10 minutes and you will feel just as relaxed. At least it works for me and there's no calories:)

"Tough love" but the way I see it is that you have three options:
    • Learn that you can fit some wine into your daily allowance and still hit your goals but that in this instance you will have to learn the self control required to stop you from then hitting the snacks
    • Abstain completely
    • Resign yourself to the fact that your desire for wine and snacks is greater than that to achieve your health/fitness/aesthetic goals

In your position, I'd be working on point 1.

Cut back a little, and/or fit it into your calories.
The 1/2 wine 1/2 sparkling water is an option too.

Point 1 all the way. I'm drinking more prosecco rather than red as you get more for your cals.

I love wine as well, I had to cut it out completely. Been missing it lately, but every once in a while is ok! Feel free to add me, always great to have more friends!

I have a deal with myself... no wine during the week in exchange for several glasses on a Saturday as that's 'social' time. Occasionally I break the rule, but then there are times when I don't have wine on a Saturday.. so it probably breaks even.
