Good and safe yoga for beginners?

I get my daily exercise from work, throwing a paper route. I also plan to start weight lifting in a month or so. But my body is very stiff and out of shape, and I want to limber it up a little. I want to try yoga, but I need a safe program to use because I have had lower back surgery and I can't bend over all the way, and I also have to be careful not to twist too far to the side. Can anyone suggest a safe beginner program to use that isn't going to cost a lot? FYI, I have never done yoga in my life. And if I try it and my cat makes fun of me I probably won't keep it up.

I would check out classes in your local area to learn the basics. Let the instructor know your concerns. Check with your doctor too to see if this is a good idea for you.

That is a good suggestion but I don't have the time to go to classes. I work from 8 Am to 4 PM five days a week and work a paper route every night from 1 AM to 6:30 AM. I sleep the rest of the time. I can only get my house clean if I take a vacation day from my main job. I was hoping to find something I could try at home. I can buy any equipment needed.

    try fitnessblender on youtube.

I can't vouch for the safety of any of the programs, as that is a very important question for your doc to answer, however they have TONS of videos. That way you dont only have yoga to choose from.

good luck on your cat being nice to you :D

I'm actually more worried about him trying to lie on me while I'm on the floor doing the exercises. He does it all the time.
