I was wondering, of all you amazing people out there that lost the weight & got toned. Did the stretch marks kinda just lighten up or what did you do to help? I have bad ones on my belly because i just had a baby 3 months ago but i also have some in different areas that arent as bad just from being over weight. I am 216.2 & my goal weight right now is 150 & toned.

Thanks for any info in advance!!!

I don't know, but I would like to know too. I have stretch marks from weight gain too and would love to know how to get rid of them!

They will never fully go away but they can lighten up (depending on genetics). Cocoa butter lotions helps smooth and lighten them.

I noticed as I am getting toned up and losing, they are getting much more smaller and less pronounced. I had huge icky ones, and they arent as bad as they used to be....

They'll NEVER go away. Nothing can make them. BUT! Mine are lighter and much harder to see. Skin texture was a bit stretch-marky/crinkly for a bit there but it's all smoothing out again nicely. Some of the perks of losing weight slowly. :)

I think genetics plays a part in how visible stretch marks are, but I rubbed Vitamin E on mine after I had my son and they all but disappeared. That was 20+ years ago. I now have noticeable stretch marks on my inner thighs and haven't put anything on them since I don't care about that as much now. It reminds me I might try my Vitamin E trick again and see if that really helped or if they would have disappeared regardless.
  • I've only lost 12 lbs so far (have another 100 to go) but I've already noticed that a big one on the inside of my elbow has lightened up. It went from purple to white in only a week or so, this gives my hope!
  • Mine have lightened up a lot along with lots of cocoa butter.

Fingers crossed! I better start the cocoa butter now huh?! Thanks again!

as you lose weight they will shrink and fade usually. Mederma helps...I use it for my scars from surgeries and it has helped with those. A stretch mark is actually a scar, you know! From tiny tears in the inner layers of your skin when it was stretched out. Also get the palmers cocoa butter in the little pot..the really waxy kind. It will make you smell like greasy chocolate but it does work, too!

I had my second baby 5 months ago, mine are pretty much clear although a lot deeper now, I hear that tanning helps, who the hell has time for that though I am tired lol

    They do lighten up though

I was wondering this and also if you had 60 pounds or more to lose did you skin tone or was there excess skin?
  • Mederma Stretch marks has worked a LOT for me, mine are extremely pale now, on my belly, I had some lighter ones that I cant seem to find to put the cream on anymore.

Mine have lightened up, but they are still there and for me they will never go away. What I do though which is not really good for you is I tan in the tanning bed in the summertime so when I do wear a bathingsuit around others they are not quite as noticeable. But the fact that I did get stretch marks.....I look at them as the beauty of being a mother and experiencing the wonderful gift of motherhood. Always a reminder

I don't think they ever fully go away, but one more thing you could try...

I have stretch marks from weight gain and StriVectin did work for me. Now, it is super expensive, but both my mom and I used it and I am not lying when I say it does work. It is a process which demands time because it takes time for you to see an actual result, but if nothing else works for you and you are at a last resort desperation type thing... splurge on it (and be patient and diligent in applying it daily) because it did make them less visible for me.

EDIT: And when I write "less visible" I don't mean changing colors. I tan so that turns my stretch marks white/less visible in color after just a few tans, but I mean less thick/more tight. It tightened that skin up and made it more normal and not that bit of a bulgey thing that you feel when you run your fingers across them.

I find that tanning worsens mine. They are scars, so they don't tan... just look whiter against your darkened skin.

I have stretch marks on my hips. I've never been bigger than 140 pounds but my hips sure did widen too quick for my skin when I hit puberty. :/ I've heard the same things about cocoa butter, and also emu oil.
