I lose, I gain, I lose, I gain, I gain

Last summer I was at my ideal weight. Around fall I got into a serious relationship, went on the pill to help with acne, and sunk into seasonal depression. The pounds inched back on. In Feburary I was a back to few pounds away from my goal. Come March, depression and two jobs joined the works and I gained it back again. I had a few weeks of eating burgers, wings, pizza, and drinking beer. So I bought a fit bit and focused on logging my food religiously.
The past few weeks I've been walking everywhere, weightlifting, and adding cardio into the mix. I do cave and have a treat on occassion but for the majority of the time it's all fruit and lean meats. I'm drinking peppermint and green tea daily and tons of water. After stepping on the scale I found I'm back to my starting weight.
I understand weight gain and loss is slow. These pounds could be from my overindulgent weekend earlier this month. Its just frustrating because it seems like what I'm doing isn't making a difference. Perhaps it's user error because I do eat the calories I burn back. It's still alway within or near budget though.
Does anyone have any advice or support for me? At this time last year I couldn't keep the pounds on, and now all I do is gain. I have no idea what to do and just don't want to give up due to frustration.

My wife goes through similar challenges at times. Adherence and consistancy are the cornerstones of any fitness/fat loss plan. Also, arm yourself with the proper information. You don't need and fad diets, severe calorie restriction, cleanses, detoxes etc... Accurate logging, appropriate calorie and macro targets, motivation and patience are you need...

Sounds like the heavier weight gain periods are when your in some sort of depression state of mind.
It's was similar for me. I've learned that it's at those times to go for long walks or spend more time at the gym. It helps me get my mind thinking or even daydreaming about something else, other than what is getting me depressed. Sitting on the couch eating a sweet or comfort food doesn't help me anymore.
Anyway that's what has helped me and I had a similar profile as you.
Take care and stay healthy.0
