Hi, im19 6 ft tall and weigh 293. I've been reading about TDEE and it says I should eat 3000 calories to lose weight but I've been eating around 1700 for about 3 weeks. Idk what to do. Should I go up to 3000 or stay. I'm scared to gain any more weight.

Have you lost any weight in the past 3 weeks?

Well I started my "diet" a little over a month ago, just cutting back on food. The 3 weeks ago I started working out. I weighed myself after the first week and I lost 13 pounds. I went to the doctor today to get blood work and I weigh the same

Are you weighing solid foods on a food scale?
Are you choosing accurate entries from the database (there is a lot of wrong stuff in there)?

Your TDEE of 3000 is not to lose. T in TDEE stands for total. Those are maintenance calories. Eat LESS than 3000 and you will lose0

It doesn't have to be one or the other. You could split the difference and try 2200 or so and see how you do with that.
Weight loss has a lot of trial and error, especially at first, to see what works for you. If you lose weight too quickly, bump up your calories a bit. If you lose too slowly, reduce them a bit but not below 1500 for a man.0 -

This is always the first advice, but in this case I think with how heavy the OP is I bet even 2500 he would lose. When I weighed 320 I lost on 2800 calories to help bring myself down.
OP I would not eat 2500+ calories for long, because you'll quickly need to be eating less, but jumping right down to 1700 could be negative too. If 1700 feels super restrictive at first then go for 2000 for several weeks. You want room to move down as you lose, because eventually you will need less to maintain your weight. And plus, you don't need to be miserable or drastically change over night. Small changes add up big time!1 -
im 5-9 320 started 2 weeks ago, cant weigh myself at home as my scale only goes to 300 but my pants a feeling loser and i see long trenches forming on the side of my belly were fat was, so i believe i am losing im under the 1940 cal plan from MFP and i have no problems eating under that, most nights i eat 200- 400 under that and thata is not counting all the calories i earn for being active walking or even napping on my fit bit, tonight i had 400 calories left off the 1940 plus another 1100 calories earned thru activity that i did not eat back, can not waite to be under the 300 mark so i can weigh myself correctly , and i already feel the energy increase thru out the day, xd
