Can't comment on statuses?

Anyone know why I can't post comments on friend's statuses?

  24 hours and all be good. Not sure why that is but it is what it is.

  If you click on their username you can comment directly to them in the first 24 hours. You can't like or comment on your wall until the MFP magic happens
