Twin Cities, MN Barbecue Get-Together

Hello Everyone!
I'm new to this lifestyle and MFP. I signed up for the diet and exercising tracking, but I've found so far a great community of support and motivation as well. I was thinking that it might be fun to have exercise/barbecue get-togethers now that our MN summer hopefully is here. I live in St. Paul and would love to start a healthy Saturday afternoon get-together at a park in the Twin cities. Maybe each week someone different takes ownership of the details so it's not always the same person/location. I'm thinking city/state parks, etc...

This is what I was thinking... Each Saturday afternoon in the summer, have a barbecue planned at a park to meet other fellow MFP'ers where we can play games like frisbee/lawn darts/whatever people want. Maybe bring bikes for a bike ride... the ideas are endless. We would do activities for exercise and then have a barbecue dinner where everyone brings their own main course... and one "healthy recipe" to share. It would be labeled with the portion size and calories/nutrition info. It'd be a great way to see new healthy recipes we may like, a way to get in some exercise, and a way to meet others. I, myself have a son, so it'd be good if it's kid-friendly.

What do people think? Any ideas for things we could do? Is there interest? Let me know. Obviously many people would be out for the Fourth of July Holiday, but maybe we could start on June 9th. Feel free to add me as a friend.

I would so love to if we still lived in the area... born and raised in Farmington but my husband and I are currently stationed in Germany. That would be a pretty expensive BBQ for me  (my parents still live in the area so maybe on visits!)
  • Another option would be sundays if it worked better for people, but my availability wood be limited to every other weekend.
