So what would the 30 day shred get me by doing it as apposed to going to the gym? I have a hard time finding time at home to do something but would be willing to give it a go if it was really worth it.

It would get you closer to your goal than you already are.0

i have wondered about the difficulty level. i am 57 with bad knees. i know jillian loves her lunges!! is this something that i could actually physically (realistically) do?0

I think if you have 20 to lose, it'd be perfect. I just did it and love my results. I also did other workouts, mostly cardio in combination with the shred. Now that I've completed it, I do level 1 on Mon, level 2 on Wed, and level 3 on fri or sat. I do it to keep my sculpting and toning I got from shred. I loved it!0

If you have bad knees this is NOT the workout for you... lots of high impact moves- lunges, jumping jacks, running in place, etc. Walk away the Pound is great for low-impact.0

The 30 Day Shred is pretty intense.. but it's only 25 mins.. I love it bc of that.. and bc it is VERY effective. I don't know that it would be good with someone with knee problems.. there are lots of jumping jacks/butt kicks, and lunges.. You would prob get the same at the gym if you're going to classes I suppose. The idea is 3 min of strength, 2 min of cardio, 1 min of abs and there are 3 circuits. If you're going to the gym, you def need to do all 3 to get the same results. I can't really afford a gym membership right now.. plus, I figure by the time I dress and go to the gym, work out and come home.. I could have done the shred, showered and gotten back to my life.. to each his own.. good luck0

I can't compare and contrast for you, as I don't belong to a gym, but I did do the 30 Day Shred (29 days in my case, but still).
I went into the shred hoping for a huge weight loss, like I see from everyone who posts about it. All told, I lost about 1.5 pounds. That was not where my spectacular results came from. Here's what I saw, though:
I'm calling it a *resounding* success at 36 inches lost. I don't know that I've *ever* seen that kind of change in a gym.
Also worth noting, I did this with bum knees. It did NOT cause me any pain or trauma, though I am going to an osteo soon - at this point I'm still showing no damage, so while I can't say it's *easy* on your knees, if you follow the lower impact side of the workouts (like I did), it isn't necessarily the death of your knees. Personally, I did it anyway, but I'm *terrible* at following my own advice... which would be "talk to your doc about whether or not this would be appropriate for your situation."0 -
