Ok I need help here.I know that MFP calculates how many carbs, calories, protein and fat you can eat a day based on your weight and height right?I was reading though in order to lose weight you should only consume 20 to 60 grams of carbs a day.So why are my carbs so high?Am I going to lose weight based on this carb intake? Should I cut them? Also I feel like I am active based on my goals .I am constantly cleaning and chasing kids around but I am trying to find the best calorie intake for me to lose weight.I know that it won't just fall off but I wish it would budge some.I have been excercising religiously and I still feel hungry sometimes. So what works guys?Should I put I am lightly active or sedentary so my calories are less so i can lose?Cause I really feel like I am not losing?

20 to 60 carbs a day? nope never heard that one. I sometimes even go over MFP's recommendation. carbs come from almost all foods. fruits, veggies, breads, dairy products.0

Protein is what is going to make you feel full. Kelloggs has a protein water that helps a little. Very little calories too. Everyone has their own opinion on Carbs but here's mine.
Carbs are essential for energy and brain power. They are important but if you are working out religiously, protein is what is going to help your body heal and also keep you from getting hungry. I usually don't eat near as many carbs as the calculator tells me. I worry more about hitting the protein level (which that seems low to me) and staying below everything else.0 -
I thought it sounded crazy too but I was wondering because I want to lose.:laugh:0

You really need carbs. People that I know that lost serious weight cutting carbs were still eatting about 100/ day. My brother is type 1 diabetic, and carbs are his life, so the endro told me never to cut carbs. I{ have found that if you burn more calories than you intake, you will loose.0

i was thinking the same thing this mornig......i eat sooo many fruits and veggies and i had NO idea how to lower my carbs!0

OK this is easy, the best way to do this is not to even look at the carb intake the other girl is right carbs are in everything, you know what you should or shouldn't eat,if you go out to eat lets say cracker barrel, choices, bacon cheese burger on sour dough bread with mayo and fries.....or......Blacken catfish, with some steamed broccoli and carrots( my fave ) witch one has less fat, eat fat free foods like fat free yogurt, no creamy stuff like ranch or sour cream, butter, mayo, go for mustard, vinegar, oil like olive oil,
you have to have some fats and you can get that in your oils, and take a vitamin every day, and drink plenty of water that is the key, if you dont like plain water(i don't but i do force some of it down but i will use crystal lite the ones that have vitamins in them like energy, skin essentials, and at nite drink some hot tea it will help detox your body why you sleep......hope this helps

Sounds like you were reading about the Atkins diet there.
you can actually get away with little carbs. for instance, chicken has no carbs.
nor does fish, eggs, low fat cheddar cheese, ahh, many veggies like lettuce, mushrooms, cucumbers, celery all have little or no carbs.
so, can it be done, sure, but oh God, I would be a slug without my carbs. I work out WAAAAAY too much. By accident the other day I only had about 100 carbs of my 300 allotted (approx.) and I was exhausted, It was prior to dinner, so for dinner I had some whole grain Angel Hair pasta, and a bowl of steamed broccoli. boy did I feel better!0 -

HEY!!!
i think that must be my problem....my sodium intake is probably off the charts!...and i'm a little less then a month into drinking ALL MY WATER...so i must be holding alot more water then ever before..... plus still a few days left in TOM..so holding that water too i bet!.....i'm gunna wait and c what's going on after my TOM is over and in the mean time watch the sodium.....i promise! but i would think that even if i'm retaining water...i probably always was retaining water but even still...i can't help thinking i should still be losing even if i'm always retaining water..the same amount of water as always weighs the same and my weight should still go down? does that make sence? LOL!! i dunno i think i over-thought it!
sorry i know this was awestfall's question/post...i didn't mean to change subjects0
