Hi! I'm a 30 year old gal with severe PCOS (with IR) trying super hard to lose some weight. Any other PCOS gals out there finding it hard to drop the weight even though mfp says you should be losing?

I haven't really been logging in on my intake on map but pcos is a challenge. Too bad they don't have an app for dieting with pcos.

Yeah it's really hard! I've been exercising every day and counting every calorie (even weighing food) and the weight just doesn't come off! I'm set to lose two pounds a week but the first week I gained! How does that happen? :( finally back where I started but it's super frustrating.

low carb low sugar is key! try it lean protein and veggies limit your carb intake to less than 100 grams stay away from carbs like bread and potatoes ect. Its the only way Ive ever been able to lose weight with PCOS

I have been diagnosed with PCOS for over 16 years now. Besides the struggle to have kids, losing weight and being able keep it off is my latest and constant struggle. My A1c and fasting sugars are fine. On metformin , but weight loss as explained by my doctor is three times harder than a person not having PCOS. It's like my full time job and it is annoying and frustrating and defeating all at once. Lower carbs, never liked soda so that wasn't too much of a sacrifice but now even trying limiting complex carbs like oatmeal, whole wheat breads, and certain veggies is where I am at. I do cheat. Have a wicked sweet tooth, so I plan it into the program here. Add me as a friend if you want. We can work together. I have a bunch to lose weight wise would love to gain a few friends that "get my situation"

People scoff at the hormonal reasons for not being able to lose weight, but it is very real!
