    Maybe stop having "cheat days".

Make a plan, one that allows for the occasional allowances, indulgences and treats, and follow it.

I think for many, cheat days are a set up to fail.

I do treat days, not cheat days. There is nothing I want to eat that can't fit into my daily calorie intake set to lose. The trick is planning and sticking to the plan. The trick is savoring reasonable portions instead of putting piles of things into my mouth without being mindful. I don't keep any "trigger" foods in the house, that is a good place to start.

I went from 315 to 196 with a cheat day every Saturday.

Here is the trick I used

If on Saturday I went over by 1000 calories, I would create that extra deficit during the rest of the week by sacrificing something small within my diet. Often I could just Drink my coffee black to make up for it without noticing. Having that cheat day is important to me, it keeps me sane and prevents setting my metabolism into a tailspin by not having enough of a certain macro.

If I didn't feel like cutting anything out of my diet, I would make it a point to burn those calories through exercise throughout the week. 3500(?) calorie deficit for a pound... One day off of your diet is NO BIG DEAL!
