:flowerforyou: Hi everyone :drinker:

I've been getting light headed during my exercising. I'm also very tired. Yesterday, I had a dizzy spell and had to stop exercising to get my equalibrium back.

What could be causing this?
I ate 1775 calories yesterday. My salt intake was high because I ate chicken noodle soup and cornbread stuffing. Boy they have a lot of salt in them. Could that cause the light headed ness? Nothing else seems out of place. I drank my water.

Can too much salt cause lightheadedness?

  • I have no idea if that could cause it but sometimes i feel this way too if I am working out extra hard and not breathing properly. I don't even notice it half the time so I try to exaggerate breathing sounds so I know I am breathing properly. Sounds weird but it works.

How is your blood pressure? Change in BP can cause dizziness.

Could you have an inner ear issue going on right now? Vertigo and inner ear issues can cause dizziness.

Did you stand up and begin moving suddenly when the dizzy spell hit? Sometimes just going from no motion to upright quick motion can make you dizzy without any negative medical reason.

I used to get this way a lot. My doctor told me it was a combination of low BP and dehydration. There wasn't anything he could do fofr it though... it went away on it's own.
  • check your blood pressure - and be sure to keep your heart rate in check and within your range. dizzy is almost always related to what's going on with your heart, at least in my experience - during workouts.
  • :flowerforyou: Thanks for responding.

I don't have any health issues that I know of (inner ear or anything). I've got a doctor's appointment next week for a routine checkin, I'll ask him too.

I did move from standing position to a machine when I got dizzy. Ugh. I don't know.

Like Kerri pointed out, make sure to stay hydrated. Had you consumed enough water? Also... don't stress too much unless this reoccurs. It may have just been your body telling you to take it down a notch, to slow down a bit. Don't worry! :flowerforyou:

Are you checking your heart rate while you work out? I've had this happen when my heart rate gets too high for too long. Be sure you're not pushing yourself TOO hard!
  • Heart rate goes up and blood pressure drops during cardio. When your pressure dips it will cause you to feel light headed. Some days I get pretty dizzy from it, other days not so much.
