Lettuce wraps

What is the secret to keeping the lettuce from tearing when you peel it off the lettuce head?? I used iceberg and my burger lettuce wraps just looked sad....

    Cabbage, Butter, Romaine, Iceburg - Those are the toughest and best lettuces to use.

    Butter lettuce all the way! Ice burg has zero nutritional value!

    Does butter lettuce go by another name? I looked for it actually at the store because my mom mentioned it being good for wraps but I only saw romaine and iceberg

    A simple green or red leaf lettuce would work too. To change it up you could use young endive which look like little boats...would be more open faces, but they hold their shape really well.
