Is my goal too ambitious?

I've never been good at running, but lately I've been really enjoying it. I'm still really slow and can't run for long (2.25 miles is my record without walking) so I'm not sure what kind of goals I should be setting for myself at this point. I've run/walked three 5Ks and enjoyed the atmosphere very much and I'd like to set my sights on something more difficult.
Is it too ambitious to start training now for a half marathon in early October? I don't expect to be able to run the whole thing, I'd just like to finish. I like having challenging goals, but I don't want to risk injury especially since I still have about 50 lbs to lose to reach my goal. I don't know much about running, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think that's too ambitious. As far as training goals, that I know nothing about, but there are a lot of apps for stuff like that, so maybe that's a good place to start? I used to do Couch to 5k but I actually didn't like running, but I liked the app.

    Good luck!

That's plenty of time to get in shape for a half. Just be consistent with your training.

Sounds OK to me as long as you build up slowly

I trained for a full marathon (from scratch) in about 9 months, so I think 6 months for a half marathon considering you can already run over 2 miles is absolutely fine! There's some great training plans online and also some good apps now!

Not to ambitious at all. Continue getting miles in your legs, building gradually weekly and with around 15 weeks to go sit down and make a scheduled running plan that suits your lifestyle. There are hundreds of pointers and schedules online that you can easily adapt to suit your daily life.
