I will turn 70 in two months. I have been fighting the Battle of the Bulge for at least 10 years. I thought I would be inspired to have it all under control by now, but I find it so difficult. I have
a recent rotator cuff tear or injury, and am in PT right now. I also have had Osteo Arthritis for 20 or more years. Any of you other Baby Boomers in my corner??? DD at 70

Hi DD, this is the first time I've posted anything and made myself known to anyone. I feel your "pain", both figuratively and physically. I'll be 64 in four months, and I've been fighting my weight off and on my entire adult life. I say off and on because I've mostly just given into the weight and in the last few years I've allowed myself to become morbidly obese. The worst of my weight gain came after I quit smoking five years ago.

I have osteoarthritis also, and in two weeks I'm having a hip replacement. I was told a year ago that I should lose weight before I had the surgery, for obvious reasons. So...I did. Finally after all these years, I've actually made progress! I've gone from 327 pounds to 212.7 pounds. I'm still losing, but at a slower pace now. I'd like to lose another 50 pounds, but I'm just going to take it as it comes. The point is that I finally felt like I had a reason to get rid of the weight. I'm not sure I would have done it otherwise. I felt like I was 80 years old. It got so bad, I had to use a walker to get around, always out of breath, high blood pressure, pre-diabetes. All those symptoms are gone now, everyone of them. I had to hit bottom. I don't know why I'm like that, but I am.

I'm so sorry you're struggling, and I want you to know this baby boomer is in your corner. I'm in Omaha, Nebraska, what area of the country do you live in?

I'll be 56 next month and I admire you ladies for keeping up your efforts to lose weight. Best of luck!
