Hi everyone!
I'm Caroline aged 62, 5'7" and 198lbs. My goal long term is to lose 48 lbs and I'm making a sloooow start. My first month I have lost 4 lbs.
Being 62 has its own challenges, such as slower weight loss, takes more work to get fit. But I am better equipped to make lifestyle changes now than I was 10 years ago!
My trainer gives me 2 butt kicking workouts each week which I love. BUT I have no energy left for the 5 stints of 40 minutes cardio per week that he wants.
Cam anyone relate?

Don't worry about being able to do all the workouts your trainer wants you to do immediately. Take it slow and add either 1 of the workouts a week and build up to doing them all. Or do just a warm up and the first 10 min per day working up to the full routine.
Also if you are eating at an MFP deficit make sure you eat back 50-75% of your exercise calorie expenditure. You need those extra calories so you can perform your exercises and your regular daily activities.

You have just started, stamina, strength and endurance will come with time. Don't push to hard- you will burn out, but always challenge yourself.

Another thing, make sure you have a good portion of protein with each meal. It is important for muscle retention, especially as we age. I am 62 also and aim for 1g per lbs of body weight in maintenance.

A pound a week loss is actually what you should be aiming for so congrats on a great start.

    Cheers, h.

Good for you for working out with a trainer! I'm 56 and feel your pain about the slow weight loss at our age. Hang in there!
