Officially left weight watchers to come back here...

Hi Everyone, I Officially left weight watchers to come back here. I did lose some weight on Weight watchers, but I have to say. I did not like Smart Points, My Trader Joe's Oat and fiber bar was 5 points (it is only 120 calories and I look at it like a treat but the points were so high!). My morning coffee was 4 points when it was barely 80 calories. I understand the push to get away from sugar, but I was starting to get resentful of just eating protein all the time. So, here I am...

Lots of successful people here!!5 -
Sitting here thinking of doing the same thing.....2

I did the exact same thing. Welcome back : )2
-
I did the same also..my 100 calorie yogurt bar was like 5 sp vs just counting as 100 calories etc so I've been counting calories and it works out just fine4

I do WW as well and love it. I have lost 25 lbs since Feb of this year. But I'm also doing MFP. A lot of people from WW do both. Feel free to add me as a friend!5

THIS!
I used weight watchers 10 years ago to get some weight off. It worked great. My friend had mentioned to me on how she signed up and lost 10 lbs in less than a month. I thought why not give it a try again to get the last 15 off...total waste of $20! Not only is their food database weak, the app sucks. And to log your food is so time consuming to figure out the smart points value!
My 1500 calorie day was 54 smart points and I am only allotted 30?! A glass of 2% milk was 6 points?! 110 calorie Greek yogurt was 5? Disappointing. I understand that they are trying to get you to cut sugar and fat but I feel full fats and sugars from dairy and fruit are ok. It's the fake food and chemicals that I stay away from.
I will continue to stick with MFP!21 -

I used to use WW but I left them because of all the new changes.3
-
Yep. I loved my leader but the ww database sucked and I just couldn't lose with the new system.2

I think it would be different if the whole world ran using points...but real world isn't like that. So on WW's you are constantly putting (your life) a round peg, into a square hole (the world)...frustrating!!!4

Yep its getting you hooked on a process. Hey, news flash, just listen to your body, and pick what you crave. Life today for my dinner, I am having tilapia, because I like it, then I added 1/3 cup of campanelle pasta because I like how its curly and a bit chewy. Then I am sauteing some zucchini in some spices and some chicken broth because it makes a nice "bed" to put my fish on and steam it. Then I am putting on some walnuts because I just love walnuts. It makes a great meal, and I didn't even look up my blasted points either... hahaha!13

I signed up with weight watchers just as they rolled out smart points. I really do t like it anymore so I'm coming back to mfp.2
-
I too left WW...I wasn't crazy about all their plan changes! I'm all about the KISS method. MFP is easy and as a new member I already feel part of a community.5
-
I'm another weight watchers reject. Smart points were dumb points when all the healthy food(I thought!) turned into evil food. Came back here to lose the weight the right way.4
-
I also left WW. My job offered it free to employees for a year. I tried it for a month and I could not get into it, so I'm back on MFP. I do attend the WW meetings at work for tips and accountability but I track on MFP.3
-
I lost 17 lbs on SP,but then felt like I was starving and started to binge more so I recently tried points plus and it was better for sure, but I think ultimately counting calories will be easier..4
-
Personally, I think you did the right thing.
I was on WW last year and everyone around me was losing 3-4 lbs a week !!! Me? .2...I was so frustrated and I felt so hungry at the end of the day. I stopped going and fell off the wagon big time. I gained about 15 lbs and felt awful.
I just woke up one day and thought, it's about damn time I put myself first. I do so much for everyone so it's about time I do something for myself which is take care of myself.
A friend of mine is a personal trainer so she's been working with me for the last week and keeping me accountable on sending her my MFP stats at the end of every day.
I've been off and on MFP for a few years now but somehow, this time feels different.
If anyone wants to add me, I'm a great motivator. I just have to motivate myself more
I wish you all a beautiful day !!! Drink that water10 -
Good choice!!! I am so sick of all of these diets and programs. Advocare, Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem etc....
MFP worked for me and always has worked way better than any other "diet" or program. It's about making smart choices and turning it into a lifestyle rather than a temporary fix. As long as you're burning off more than you put in ..you'll lose weight.10 -
Welcome! What's officially? lol0

I agree. WW was good for me 10 years ago. But MFP works way better for me now. The new system is making healthy food too high in points in my opinion. Honestly what are you supposed to eat on it now???6

I'm in the same boat I have found calorie counting a real eye opener. Doing slimming world or weight watchers in the past I guess hadn't educated me on the real value and spend of calories. I'm. Here if u wanna add me x4 -
Welcome back to many!

Personally, I think it is a good choice. My sister uses WW and does well on it, but she was explaining the new points system to me and it is ridiculous. It is clear it is buying into the woo of sugar being evil. A 200 calorie candy bar is half your daily points, but you can eat two bananas for free... it really limits what you eat and doesn't teach you full nutrition.
If you follow the plan I have no doubt you will eat healthy and can lose weight if you don't game the free points, but you could also virtually starve yourself if you eat a couple "bad" foods. Counting calories gives you so much more freedom and control.4 -
I also was a member of Ww For almost 7 years. I lost 30 pounds on it. But after I met my husband I mostly gained it all back. I tried Smart points but it is absolutely ridiculous and hard...too many numbers to log. I got so used to points plus and then they changed it. I really hope this MFP works. I need something different but not impossible to do2

YES!! I had a 240 cal Milky Way and it was 13 points...almost 1/2 my day! So if I ate 2, my calorie count for the day would be 480, but 26 smart point...almost the entire's day worth. This is why weight watchers is a fail!
I was thinking today, that if it really did work, why do they keep changing the point system??12 -
I lost close to 100lbs on WW fifteen years ago. I was thinking about going that route but when I saw Oprah was buying it and overhauling the system I just knew it would be full of woo. I keep reading these accounts and am so glad I chose MFP. Best for my body, sanity and wallet.5

I am currently on it. Lost 7 lbs the first month but struggled through month 2. So now I am back here - counting calories, just to see how it adds up compared to points. tracking food is much simpler on MFP, that is for sure!3

same here I love WW. I could not do it alone. I have always lost weight with WW, down 22 pounds with about 30 more to go and I will not stop til I am at a healthy BMI!!! Feel free to add me1 -
I am a ww smart points flunky. I was feeling very frusterated when I would go over my daily points, which led to binging. I also felt as if the calories and sp didn't always make sense. I have 75 pounds to lose and hope to learn more about calories and nutrition along the way. Feel free to add me to your friends list!4
