Hi -I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what my daily calories should be to lose weight. I'm female, 42, 5'4" and weigh 166 pounds. My weekly exercise regime is 6 days a week in the gym doing cardio and burning 700 cals per session. I am also doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred 5 days a week. I upped my exercise levels to these a couple of weeks ago but I'm struggling to work out how many calories I should be eating daily to lose about 1.5lbs per week. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Plug your details and goals in here http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/

I would question that 700 burn for a session at the gym. But this depends on what you are doing in that gym session and how you are calculating that burn

Thanks for the link. The 700 cal burn at the gym is made up of a 20 min run on the treadmill and 50 mins on the elliptical trainer or a combination of 50 mins on other cardio equipment. My personal details - age, height & weight are pre-programmed into a 'key' which tracks my progress on each machine. I work at between 135 and 145 bpm for my workouts and leave they gym breathing very heavily and looking like a drowned rat due to sweating buckets! I'm not sure how much more accurate I can get in assessing the calorie burn for my gym sessions?

I know it is difficult, and as you get fitter it is hard to gauge if you are burning less or the same for the same effort. I think most people start off eating about half their exercise burn back and if they are losing too quick they eat more back. There is no magic formula that is going to give the exact burn for you and the machines at the gym are notorious for being off. It is going to have to be a "try it and see" thing if you plan eating cal back from exercise, but once you have it nailed it becomes much much easier.
