I eat them, but not often. I use them as my "too tired to cook" meal. I think they're fine and a great idea for when you don't know what to eat, too hungry, ect. They are a life saver...instead of eating out.0

Agreed! They're great when you don't feel like cooking. Just watch the sodium if blood pressure is a concern0

I don't know about healthy choice, but I have a few lean cusine meals a week and they don't seem to keep me from loosing weight. The problem with meals like these is the sodium content- it's usually pretty high. Having these types of meals every day would probably mean that you're getting too much sodium in your diet, which is bad for you and can lead to added water weight.0

I keep a few in the freezer when I need something quick...typically I don't have one more than twice a week.0

I have a Lean Cuisine every day for lunch Mon. thru Fri. and my sodium is always under the daily recommended amount - so I guess it just depends on the sodium content in the rest of your day. Lean Cuisine often saves me from eating the wrong thing - whenever I feel like I HAVE to cheat and NEED something bad - I often opt for the highest calorie Lean Cuisine that I can find... a 350 calorie Lean Cuisine Lasagna is WAY better than the Big Mac and Fries I would have had otherwise, and I still stay within my calories for the day!0

I eat a Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice for lunch every day at work. I never go over my sodium because I watch the sodium in everything else I eat. I think I'm going to quit eating them for a while though and see if I can lose weight faster without them. If not, I'll probably go back to eating them for my lunches because they are so convenient.0

I eat them probably more frequently than I'd like since they fit so well into my budget. I can ususally find one brand or the other on sale for about $2.00 a piece. I eat them for lunch or dinner but I have to drink plenty of water to flush the sodium. Good thing they also have a high potassium count to balance the sodium! I tried the dinner Lean Cuisines this week because I knew it was going to be a tiring week and I wouldn't feel like cooking when I got home. The Salisbury steak was surprisingly good. If you have Von's or Safeway near you their Light meals are really good and have healthier ingredients than the others. Mostly whole grains and lower sodium. I am going back to them when I get paid, just got a deal on the Lean Cuisine and couldn't pass it up.

there are worse things you could be eating, but generally they are quite high in sodium, which isn't good. They are also really expensive when you think of how much food you're getting. Once in awhile, ya sure no problem. but one, sometimes 2 a day? I'm gonna have to go with a no on that. :flowerforyou:0

I sometimes have a smart ones from weight watchers, I get these at walmart. everyone is right though, you do have to watch the sodium, as they tend to have alot of it.0

I love the Smart Ones. They are amazing and have so many more vegetarian varieties then LC. I think one a day is fine as long as the sodium is looked at. I think they a a life saver when I want to eat the right portion, the fettuchini with broccoli from smart ones and the Lasgna Florentine IS THE BEST! And at Wal mart they are like $1.500

I eat them at lunch probably 3 times a week - as long I stay in my ranges I can't see why they are so bad...
I love the three meat lean cuisine pizza - it's at least once a week and the LC chicken parm is good too....
Way cheaper than eating out and safer too!0 -
Just under a year ago, my mom was hospitalized for some heart issues- while going over her eating patterns the three docs that were working with her were horrified to hear she ate frozen meals- Weight Watchers, Lean Cuisine, and Healthy Choice at least once a day.
They told her absolutely no more- many of the patients in the 'heart ward' and 'stroke unit' have a habit of eating those all the time. I asked them if it was an age factor, they said it was not- they told me, check the sodium on some of them. So of course I went home, checked them out...they are HIGH on most of them...way too high, especially for only one meal!
So after doing my own research, I learned that yes, they are not all that terribly healthy, but of course once in awhile is not going to do damage I would think.0 -
Thanks for the advice guys0

I eat a lean cuisine most everyday for lunch and my sodium intake for the whole day is always way under the allotted amount. It seems now that I've been doing this, instead of eating out everyday my body is adjusting for the better from the junk I use to put in it. (see: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/36171-now-i-have-guilt)
And have you looked in the food database at how much sodium is in anything from a restaurant or fast food chain? It's way more than a lean cuisine x 30 -
I work 3 days a week and I take a Michelinas Lean Gourmet or a Lean Cuisine to work for lunch on those days and I am still below on my sodium and I am still losing weight. But I also don't eat a lot of salt. I never salt my food b/c I just don't like salt so usually the only way I get salt is if it is already in something I use or cook.0

whew sodium..yup... how about grabbing some healthy yummy ingredients from the produce section, some whole wheat pasta, ground turkey (98% ff is much lower in cost than beef..which is cool:bigsmile: plus it tastes great and is very versatile) or whatever you enjoy and cook up a few different recipes in your free time (ok, no free time? how about an hour on the weekend or middle of the night while studying? (I don't know your situation) doesn't take long, really!) then freeze them all up, label and be able to microwave those as simple as the frozen costly sodium meals. :drinker:
Sure I used to grab them when they were on great sales in the past, then I really started comparing and doing more reading of labels etc, when you figure it all in, AND the huge amount of sodium they contain and other ingredients we can't pronouce:noway: ), whether a person has blook pressure issues or not, it's HIGH for what food you're eating (huge amounts of sodium are placed in foods to preserve them and make us think they are tastier than they are:noway: )
just my thoughts on the matter...I prefer to eat less processed foods myself so my response reflects that:flowerforyou: Convience is not cheap nor healthy in most cases. Unless you're talking about grabbing an apple or something you've cooked up yourself and know all the ingredients from your freezer!

i eat them once in a while but yeh watch for the sodium.0

I eat them too, on weekdays where I only have a short amount of time for lunch. For me, one is adequate for a lunch as long as I eat slowly. I just don't usually have time for fresh food at lunch on weekdays. I only buy them when I can get them under $2 each, which isn't too costly overall -$10 a week. Most of my other meals are low in sodium, so I think they are okay if you're only eating one per day and avoiding additional really high sodium meals otherwise. They are balanced and filling and I love the variety!0
