I recently brought a blender to try and make my own smoothies /shakes after people suggested it but don't have a clue where to start .
Any tips would be appreciated thanks :)

Next time you ask, state what your goal is.
I have grandma that just uses it b/c she likes things that taste good.
Butter pecan ice cream, full fat milk, and 1 tsp of chia seeds (to make it healthy).

Would you put greens in it? Do you even like the taste of spinach?
You could buy mixed greens, add almond milk, and some flaxmeal and mix?

I've seen people here just make it with bananas, and a ton of fruit with apple juice.
That just turns them into sugar bombs.

I personally use my blender to make Vegan Shakeology or Perfect Fit protein smoothies with ice and veggies. My favorite is a scoop of either of those powders, 2 tbsp of peanut butter, 1 cup of nut milk (almond, coconut, or cashew), 1/2 cup water, 6 ice cubes, 1-2 cups of raw kale. Soooo good. I am really particular with my macros, and eating very few carbs, but once in a while I add a banana or some frozen berries as a treat. The smoothie is just as good without any protein powder, but I use it as a meal replacement so I always use the powder. Cheers!

For most you want enough liquid so it pours out of the blender when your are finished mixing.
For one of my full blender smoothies. (5 cups)
I start with 2 cups of liquid, like almond milk. To cut back on calories use water.

    example:

This will make 2 smoothies and clock in at around 300 calories pr serving.

    1 medium Bananas, raw
2 cup, Almond Cashew Milk Blend
    1 Small Avocado
    1 Egg, Raw
    .5 cup, 100% Pure Pumpkin
    .5 cup, Spinach
    .5 cup, kale
.5 cup, All Natural Greek Non Fat Yogurt- Vanilla
2 tsp, Fiber Powder, Sugar Free

    I drink one every morning

    1/2 cup spinach
    1/2 cup kale
    1/2 tsp chia seed
    1/2 tsp flax seed
1/4 cup whole milk plain yoghurt
    4 frozen strawberries
    1/4 frozen banana
1/3 cup frozen cantelope (i dont like cantelope but its great in smoothies i slice mine up and leave the seeds before i freeze the seeds are edible and full of nutrients.)
1+ cup water or coconut water depending on how thick you like it.

Has under 200 calories and keeps me full for about 3 hours

I love adding in a cup of spinach, a half cup of cottage cheese or half an avocado to my smoothies. They don't really change the taste when you're blending them with other fruits, but I find make for a creamier consistency to the smootie; plus they add extra protein or good fats and vitamins. You should try it out. :)

Green smoothie I love where the only reason you know it has spinach, taste wise, is because it's green.

    - 2-3 cups spinach
    - 1tbsp peanut butter
    - 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
    - 1 banana
    - 1 scoop of protein powder (I like vanilla flavour for this recipe)

I have a protein smoothie just about every night as my dinner.
1 cup Soy Slender (soy milk)
1 Dannon Oikos Triple 0 greek yogurt (I prefer berry or vanilla flavor)
    1/2 cup frozen free blueberries
1 scoop whey isolate protein powder (currently using Sprouts bulk whey isolate protein)

    391 cals, 31g carbs, 12g fiber, 59g protein, 3g fat

    My every day green drink:

    -almond milk
    -whey protein
    -coffee
    -pear slices
    -carrots
    -kale
    -red chard
    -cucumber
    -ice

You wouldn't know it by the ingredients list, but it's delicious and full of great micros. It's actually better with a banana, but I'm cutting right now, so no bananas for me.

I make one every day, I'm currently enjoying a refreshing frozen berry smoothie. Summer fruits and blueberries (I'm using frozen ones) 250ml water, handful of ice done. Not very filling but a great healthy drink. To fill it out a bit wack a banana and a kiwi in there

Although there are plenty of free recipes throughout the internet, I'd recommend investing towards a juicing dictionary of sorts. Here's a good simple book I've received as a gift; I'm more than satisfied with its content.
