Finding the right workout beginners

It's been a while since i have worked out. Just wanted to see how everyone got a routine for working out? I have a 10 month old son so workouts could be difficult to get in. How does everyone else do it? :)

I have a machine at home to allow for concentrated cardio when I need it. I use a wide variety of YouTube videos as well, walk at home, fitness blender, Windsor pilates, etc. Jillian Michael's stuff is on there but it's usually higher impact and I have a tough time.

I have always worked as a nanny and found ways to include kids in my workouts. For a small baby, if he's the type to sleep, do a quick workout during his nap. Take walks with him in a stroller and do walking lunges for 1/4 of every block. Put him in a front pack carrier for walk at home, they're not bouncy movements. If he likes an exersaucer do videos while he hangs out and you can coo and giggle at him while you work out. You'll find it easy after a bit!

I had one job with an insanely high maintenance infant, it was my toughest position to date. She needed to be held to sleep, otherwise wouldn't, couldn't be put down without being insanely upset, I couldn't put her in swings or saucers. Oh boy, good times. But even then I managed to strap her to my chest and get moving!

The "right workout" is the one the you more or less enjoy and will stick with and do.

My passion is cycling...so I cycle. I also do a little hiking and I hit the weight room a few times per week.

Darebee.com has a fantastic database of workouts for many different goals. Squeeze in 10-20 minutes at a time between your daily duties and before you know it you'll have a good regimen going.

There are tons of youtube videos out there! Fitnessblender.com also has lots of excercises you can do at home. I use Nike Training app on my phone, it's great, they have 15, 30 and 45 min workouts for all kinds of levels and goals.

You can also just take long walks with baby in the stroller. I lost tons of weight that way when my kids were babies.

I started out with Dumbbells, videos of circuit and HIIT training. Continued to buy heavier Dumbbells, then moved on to barbell training because I discovered a passion for weight training. Try different things to find what you love to do. Then keep doing it because you love it.

i agree that this is really a personal choice. i started off with 30 day shred. looking back it was too much on my joints. i later found fitnessblender.com through the forums and i thoroughly recommend it. you can pick a workout to suit time and your level. good luck
