Not losing weight- help

Hi!
I've used MFP before (several times!) but always gave up. I now weigh 13stone and need to really lose some. I'm 5ft 9, female and lead a lightly active lifestyle (I'm a teacher so on my feet during the day).
I set MFP to lose 2lbs per week and it's given me 1,280 calories per day which I've been sticking to, except maybe once or twice, for around a month.
I've lost nothing! I weigh all my food on a kitchen scale and am genuinely really careful about logging. I don't eat meat so probably eat more carbs than I should but since I'm sticking to the calories I thought I'd still lose.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated x

have you measured your waist or other body parts
ive lost about 3 kg in 4 weeks from 113.6 kg to 110.6 kg and 3 cm off my waist in 3 weeks (172 cm tall).. inbetween that time there was one weight in that was 115.2 just after a big cheat day . this week I lost only 0.2 kg but lost 0.83 cm off my waist but the previous week I lost 0.8 kg and lost 0.7 cm off my waist. If I didn't measure I would think that this week was a bad week but I actually feel I did better than the previous week. So depending on what exercises you are doing you may still be losing fat.
So for me measuring my waist is always a plus because at them moment I'm a big guy and visually I don't see much change but once I measure I see the difference.. I only measure my waist but it maybe worth measuring other parts0 -
Thanks for your response. I did think that so I've measured today! So will definitely keep track of that too.0

Hi @haleyp89,
I'm sorry you're having these problems with your weight loss. It sounds weird that you're not losing at all. I believe you that you're logging accurately. (I'm saying this because I don't always do lol)
Can you tell more about your weigh loss during the last month? When you say you haven't lost anything does that mean that you lost some then gained some then again etc or something like that? Or does it mean that the scale literally haven't budged in a month? Or maybe you just recently gained some of the lost weight back? If you give more details on your weight fluctuations we might be able to help better. (You should have had some weight fluctuations for a month or otherwise I would suspect your bath scale is not working very well)
I'm 5'7, 11 stone and I'm losing while on average of 1300 cal/day (with almost no exercise/movement). I've lost a stone in 2 and a half months. So there're definitely something wrong with your case.0 -
Where did your period fall in this last month?0
-
Thanks for your replies! I'm due my period in 5 days. Maybe I'll see a loss after that?
I did think maybe my scales are out so I bought some new ones yesterday and they have the same reading. I even tried them on different surfaces haha. For the past months it's been a lb either side of 13 stone.
I barely exercise- just my day to day activities, so might start moving more to see if that helps. I currently clock up around 6,000 steps a day. Someone I work with said to cut carbs but I'm reluctant to because so many of my main meals are carb based (pasta/noodles/potatoes) I think I'd feel miserable if I restricted myself.0 -
There is no reason to cut carbs if you stay inside the limits of your calorie goal. Eat what makes you feel full and happy.
Your diary is closed so I can't take a peak at it so I decided to open mine. As we eat similar calories you can compare roughly my food to yours. What is not going to be very helpful is that I use the recipe builder extensively because we cook almost all our food at home and you will see entries like 'whatever' - 1 serving. So I'm sorry for this but look at the rest of the stuff and see if you find it helpful in comparison to yours. Also I've been eating more lately (except for the past few days). I just feel hungry lately and I don't like depriving myself. But my loss hasn't stalled even with my higher eating.0 -
Thanks! Yeah, I thought as long as I stick to the calories I should be able to lose weight despite enjoying carbs. I'll just keep at it.
When I click on your profile it says "this users feed is private". I'm not sure how to make mine open but I'll have a go now

I would recommend looking at low carb options. I too was a big main meal carb person until mfp but ive just gradually ditched them and have been so surprised by lower carb/carb free options that are great. Worth googling around for recipes or the book lean in 15 has some great low carb recipes too.0 -

Use the the website not the app to see her diary.0 -
I had my diary open but my profile closed. lol Sorry for that. Opened it now. I saw yours. It all seems fine to me really... I have no idea! Maybe print a page or two and go to see your GP. It is very weird you're not losing at all. You might try less carb as others have said and it might work but in my mind it makes no sense if you eat so few calories in the first place not to lose ANY weight just cos you're eating 150gr carb a day.0
