This past week I decided to start this journey again my main focus was on my calories. This week I start the 200 Mile May challenge so I plan to focus on the 200 miles while staying with in my calories. In the past I have been able to stay within my calories with a cheat day here or there but I typically fall off on the exercis. So is this a good idea to stay more focused on the exercise then what I am eating as long as it is within my calorie range ?

Hello, Luvamy. Congrats on your 200-mi challenge! To answer your q, I'd say you're on the right track of keeping within your calorie range. Keep up both exercise & calorie counting, as each is a separate entity. I try to do both, but I found that sticking with walking 4-mi/day as a minimum amount of exercise is what makes me feel better about everything & I love how I'm feeling stronger each day.

Here's how I didn't allow exercise to take a back seat... I pencil it into my calendar as if it's a daily appt. I wouldn't miss a dentist appt or not show up to the dr's office when scheduled, so why should I do it with exercise? The 1st 2-days were the most challenging... but, after 3-days, my legs to feel stronger & happier, so it's been easy to keep up & I really look forward to my morning workouts.

BTW, prior to doing that little trick with the calendar, I wasn't even a morning person & spent my whole life hitting the snooze alarm for 30+ min. Now I'm up at 5am & walk for an hour. Great way to begin the day & I never thought I'd be a morning person.

You can do it. I'm proud of you for taking on a very valuable goal. Keep us posted on your progress! Good luck! I'll be rooting for you.
