log everyday and make small changes . Don't deprive yourself
Set yourself some mini goals to achieve
Never give up nor matter how hard it gets

Have you read the "getting started" guide?

I suggest you start there, and if you have any questions left the community is usually happy to answer.

My own piece of advice: don't stress. We all have ups and downs and it's not roses and cute cuddly puppies all the way down. The difference between those who succeed and those who don't is that those who succeed don't let this overwhelm them. There is no "one right way" to do it. You experiment, play around, see what works for you and what doesn't, and if something doesn't it's not the end of the world. It's okay to not be perfect all the time.

Every time you find a certain thing easy to implement, add it to your arsenal. Switching to diet soda, for example, was one of the easiest decisions I had to make, and because it was so easy the habit stuck. Every time you try something that doesn't work for you, just toss it out the window and move on. No biggie, and the time spent doing it is not lost. Building a good knowledge base of what works for you and what doesn't will come in handy in the future when you do reach your desired weight and decide to maintain. And yes, you will reach your desired weight if you take it easy, stop catastrophizing every time something doesn't go to plan, and just keep stubbornly plugging away. Remember, this is a process that will last a few years so you better make it as stress free as possible.

You can do it! Fat is simply fuel, and we are extremely efficient fuel tanks. Our tanks do not care about our emotions, but others do, and many have have similar difficult personal stories but have persevered just as you will, in time. How you feel does not have to be a prison and should not be. Food is not the key to your feelings, and will never release you from your prison cell until you change the lock and only let enough food in, in the right amount, to serve you the person one day at a time. I know, i once weighed 403 pounds. I was a pant size 56. I started eating better for me foods and started working out. I thought i would die. And i did, only to be reborn emotionally by becoming stronger physically. Your body does not want you to know your heart is in control, if you will it, and where your heart is there your treasure will be also. Over a one and a half year period of repeating to myself 100 times a day i can do this, i did. I lost 225 pounds and got into size 28 pants. Then i fell into old patterns, gave into old emotions and boom, i was 317 and climbing. That was 15 months ago. Today, applying the same principles i am now at 241 pounds and the weight loss is accelerating. I am telling you do not believe you cannot do the same thing, you most certainly can. Start your engine, put it in cruise control and take the journey to happiness and leave the old you in the rear view mirror, only don't let the old you catch up to the new you like i did! By summer's end i will lose 40 pounds, you cen too!
