How do you count calories for marinades?

Hello!
I made chicken kabobs with veggies this evening. I had it marinating in this homemade honey marinade. I made the recipe in the calculator but I throw out the marinade do I still count all the calories for that? I can't weigh it either since a lot of the veggies distributed water while marinating. Not sure what to do?

Most people say to add a portion of your marinade to the recipe to account for what is left. I typically use 1/3-1/4 of the recipe, depending on how safe I want to be.0

Weigh the raw chicken plain, put it in the marinade, then weigh it again before cooking. Then you can just subtract the weight of the chicken to find out how much marinade is in it, and convert measurements accordingly.
Hope that helps.2 -
too much effort. I just count the serving size and move on.1

Thanks for the help. I guess I will just count the calories. It can't hurt to over count and stay under your goal.0

I usually calculate the total for the batch of marinade, divide by the number of servings, and then log 1/4th of the calories (assuming/hoping that will cover the calories absorbed by the meat). Has worked so far!0

I never bothered with that kind of minutia...it's negligible unless you're using it as a sauce.0

I usually log a little bit of it, but you can weigh the leftover marinade and subtract it from you recipe at the end.1

I usually log the full serving size of the marinade anyway; nothing wrong with accounting for error since I dint know how much soaked in, got thrown out, and 90% of the time I do not have time for weighing and reweighing. Once is enough for me and it has not affected my weight yet.0

I've always calculated it that a recipe will 'soak up' 1/2 the entire recipe. So if I'm cooking for 4 people, that is generally, what, 1/8th of the total recipe, and I'll log it thusly. If I'm boiling and thickening the marinade to a sauce, I'll say I eat 1/4 of the total recipe.0

I don't count it if the protein in it doesn't absorb. I'm already losing more than MFP projects ignoring the marinade. I've lost 58 pounds since January 3.....0 -
No way I'm doing alla that, not that serious over less than. 50/cals0

Not enough to worry about.0
