Well, well, well. What do we have here? Another holiday that many celebrate by overindulging in delicious, grilled, sweet, calorie-filled food. What's a girl to do?? I say have whatever you want, just not a lot of it. I WILL have that slice of cake! (Just a slither, though). I WILL eat that hot dog, but I'll make my brother finish half of it. I WILL make my mom get a burger and take a few bites off of hers. Is there going to be cheesecake? I'll have some of that, too. Malt beverages, wine, mixed drinks? Yes, yes, yes!!!

I'm just curious, how is everybody else going to handle the Fourth of July? What approach will you take? Stay on track? Deprive yourselves? Pig out? Let's talk about it!!!!!

  • Bump.

I was really curious to see how others handle these times.
I want to say that it is only 1 day but I dont want to get off track completely.

i'm not really one to binge or go off the diet or cheat or whatever, but I'm definately planning on drinking a bit and having more sweets than usual, but I think i'm still going to find time to go on a run every day(even tho i'll be out of town). I think i'm going to stcik to the new 64 lemonade beer that just came out & some select 55. Best way to drink and stay in calorie goal!!

I pig out on certain holidays and stuff. I never notice a difference. Just add an extra workout in.

Since I'm Canadian we don't have the July 4th. We have July 1. So it's close.
It doesn't seem to be focused around food where I live. There are a ton of activities and there is a red and white Fun Run. Then there is fire works
There is a BBq for people who are willing to pay for a burger. But maybe its just the way I was raised. Every year my family would go camping and watch the fire works. No special foods or fancy foods.
  • I tend to enjoy festivities by bringing my own dogs or burgers of a healthier variety. Such as reduced fat Hebrew National dogs, or some veggie burgers. I don't have that much of a sweet tooth, so as long as I resist any presented urges to put nacho cheese on my hot dogs I'll be okay.
  • Being from the GWN as well, we'll celebrate on July 1st as well.

It'll be a full day of visiting the local activities, avoiding the long lines for the food carts (Damn, they smell good though), then a BBQ at the Grandparent's (too many years to count on how long this has been going on).

I'll avoid MOUNDING up my plate with all the scrumptious goodies (It's a pot luck, after all), substitute a glass or 2 of red wine instead of beer, and drown my sorrows with a number of diet pops (soda's for y'all).

After all, it is just 1 day (a special day at that) so why not let the wheels wobble a bit. We've worked too hard at this to let them fall off completely, so why deprive yourself.

    Happy Canada Day,
    Happy Independence Day

ps The 16 km walk on Sunday may be necessary.
