Hey all!
I am looking for a high protein *chocolate* muffin recipe that doesn't end up rubbery or dry and is around 250 cals per muffin with at least 10g of protein. The only protein powder I have available is muscle mlk vanilla which is 16g of protein per scoop. Ideas?

See if some of those will work. Ive tried a lot of her recipes and theyve been really good3 -
This is kind of random but I LOVE MUFFINS1

Do you have a Target? They have a protein powder that is 25g of protein per scoop, 150 calories. That is for vanilla, don't know if the chocolate is different. I use vanilla and add unsweetened cocoa because the vanilla is more versatile for other baking and smoothies. Good luck finding a recipe!1

Target shut down in Canada, unfortunately. Too bad, since they had a great range of foods. We do have Costco though. I've been eyeing off the musclepharm combat powder.

A lot, if not most, protein powders will denature when exposed to high heat.0

Forget about the muffins, just blend some milk and peanut butter with your powder. Stop obsessing over trying to disguise health food as junk food so you can maintain a dependency to desserts. Let the muffins go...
Otherwise, does anyone know a good recipe for a high protein cheesecake?
Haha! Gotta have priorities.0 -

You could try modifying one of these: http://www.questnutrition.com/cookbook/desserts/blueberry-almond-muffins/

Pshhh. Nice try.Where did I say I was trying to disguise muffins as health food? Who even does that? Is that like adding chocolate sauce to kale? I eat everything that tastes good to me. I just want a breakfast muffin that's higher in protein than usual ones so I can easily hit my protein %. If I didn't care about reaching my protein goal, then I'd just make ordinary muffins.
And cheesecake? I'm listening.barbara3213 wrote: »Haha! Gotta have priorities.
I would hazard a guess that people on this site have health as their main priority. All the Paula Deen types who'd chug a glass of melted butter wouldn't hang around MFP would they?
Butter is 'clean', right? I see no dirt, I'm eating clean.0 -

It's a muffin, muffins are a cup shaped cake. Cake is made from sugar, flour, and a type of fat. Cake is a sweet dessert. Cake isn't a protein bar. Straight muffins are often worse for you than donuts. You wouldn't happen to be trying for a protein donut also would you? For reality's sake, give up the chocolate muffin venture and find your protein in another source, like nuts or eggs. Try eating a toasted English muffin with some honey, a hardboiled egg, and a handful of almonds.
I live by the "there are no bad foods" rule. If I want flour, sugar and all, I'll eat it. I don't demonize foods- I haven't while losing over 85lbs.

Since my mother passed 3 weeks ago, I haven't been eating well, so I'm trying to make it easier for me in the morning, and a muffin is perfect for now. I already have too much on my plate. I wasn't considering eating muffins all day

It really is better to orient your mind around eating for function, rather than the pleasure of it. That way you spend less time thinking about food, and you only eat when you have to. That said, if you like muffins then my words shouldn't make a difference. You're going through the stress of a family death and that has all kinds of symptoms that are not fun to deal with, let alone eating cake for breakfast. Pay it no mind.
I bet you're super fun at parties!2 -

And yes, I am distraught over my mothers death. I am on the other side of the world. The cake has nothing to do with it. I just want something quick and not have to worry too much about food at the moment.
The last time I checked, this thread wasn't called "let's argue about food". I don't know why you care if someone wants a muffin.
Seriously. I don't have to explain myself to you. Take your rudeness elsewhere.2 -

I disagree. There are ways to enjoy your good and pleasure of eating while still maintaining health. I'm finding that by using herbs, I get a lot of enjoyment out of my food.2 -
Wow. I simply cannot believe the arrogant rudeness of:
Eating food for function rather than pleasure of it.
Famous last words.
Let alone eating cake for breakfast.
How about being supportive and KIND? For a change? Look how the OP was put on the defensive. Not nice at all. and incredibly rude.
@cerise_noir next time, nevermind the rudeness and ignore it, don't even respond at all.3 -
I make muffins all the time for breakfast. And they are so NOT cakelike. I make breakfast muffins with egg and bacon and green onion. No cake there lol.
Definitely gonna check out those links though, chocolate protein muffin would be awesome after my workouts!1
