Need to convince Hubby! Beachbody?!

Has anyone tried the beachbody stuff or the shakology? I have a friend who is a coach for beachbody and I'm thinking of trying it out, including shakology but my husband is scetchy. He's dropping weight a lot faster then I am and he has more calories a day! Have I mentioned men kinda suck! So anyways he thinks that just eating right with a little exercise is enough. He doesn't want to spend money on anything because he thinks it's all a gimic and a waste of money. Is it worth it? I need some proof!

Mmm, I'm with your hubby so far! Have you tried that (easier and cheaper) approach without success?0

I am using P90X and Shakeology! Lost 37 pounds in 78 days of P90X!0

I'm not one for the shakeology and things like that. I do however like the beachbody programs0

Men definitely lose faster and easier than women. I've personally never used Shakeology, but my friend is a coach and swears by it. From what I've read, it has tons of vitamins and nutrients as well. On the other hand, so does Slimfast (which I HAVE had lots of success with). Maybe give that a shot before stepping up to the big guns.0

I know nothing about the Beachbody stuff... BUT I just started taking hcg injections 6 days ago. I drastically changed my diet to healthy food and I started exercising a little. I have seen a big change already. I would definitely recommend the hcg diet. Good luck!0

I've heard good things about it, however, it is pricey. Maybe if you go on Craigslist.com and find a cheap version, you might be able to persuade himm easier. I know personally, when I looked into it, I didnt want to spend $120 on it.0

First of all...it's a proven fact that men lose weight faster than women. It sucks but it's true. As far as the gimmicky stuff...I truly feel that whatever gets you motivated will work for you. All that stuff works, maybe not like they claim it does, but if you use it correctly and do your workouts and eat right it will work, and I feel that if Beachbody workouts get you motivated and you'll keep doing it then it's not a waste of money.
Thats my 2 cents....0 -

I think Shakeology and HCG are worlds apart in what the original questions was. IMO.
That said... I really like shakeology. I"ve tried several brands and get tired of them or can't really just get them mixed up well. Has your coach sold you a sample yet, maybe if he tries it he will realize how good it is. My food bill has dropped significantly, as fresh fruits and veggies are difficult to buy and save, so I was at the store more. My kids love shakeology too, it is their favorite breakfast item they get. I'm not certain on the weight loss front where it would stand for diet because I don't use shakeology for that, I use it for nutrition.0 -
I have Turbo Jam/Turbo Fire and P90x ...I LOVE LOVE LOVE the beachbody products. I did tried the shakeology and loved it. As of now, because of changes in my work, I cannot afford it, BUT when I am back on track I might give it a shot.
But in the meantime, do I recommend the beachbody workouts? YES!0 -
Haven't done Shakeology... but I'm half way thru Insanity, which is awesome!! I've also done Hip Hop Abs... but that may not appeal to your hubby as much as Insanity or P90X might. Sure is fun tho.0

Unfortunately for us women its going to take us longer. We are not built the same as men. I learnt a while ago not to compare my weight loss with my husbands.
We have to eat less and work out just as hard! And then lose 1 or 2 pounds!
For me I am trying to build a healthy life style, eating good quality food and in smaller portions. Having done a number of these diets in the past and always put the weight on and more I would also tend to agree with your husband.
There is no shortcut to this unfortunately!
Good luck0 -
show him p90x success stories on youtube (or even beachbody.com). They are everywhere because it's a great program. I have yet to try it (I'm about to start month 3 of Turbo Fire) but I convinced my boyfriend to do P90X with me when I'm done by showing him that it really does work. And it will coincide nicely with us buying our first house together
About shakeology. I personally would L.O.V.E to try the stuff because I hear so many great things about it but I cannot get hooked on something that costs an extra $120/month. I may just buy a pack of 9 (from ebay or something) for my next recovery week and do the 3 day cleanse with it.0 -
Sorry for double post!0

I have done the Turbo Jam videos (yep, the ones from like 2005 hahaha) recently and have had success thus far. I've been showing signs of success without the shakeology, which I hear is a little pricey. I'm all about trying to find ways to make things work before I spend a lot of money (I guess I'm like your husband >.<).
Personally, I am adding a protein shake to my diet, I burn about 4000 a week, try and eat as well as possible (life gets in the way, so I'm by no means perfect) with a zig zag diet, and I was on a forever month plateau, but have had a five pound loss in about three weeks, which is the most I've moved in any direction in a long time.
Maybe try, Jillians Michael - No More Trouble Zones (cheap on Amazon) with a major diet overhaul? I started doing that DVD (which is similar to the Turbo Jam Strength Training DVD) and have ten times harder of a time getting through it than the Turbo Jam one. I have much more muscle fatigue since starting that!!
Honestly, in the end, it all comes down to just getting enough exercise, having a healthy diet, and making that life style change regardless of the DVDs, shakes, etc. People were fit before DVDs.0 -
I love the Beachbody workout programs, but have not tried the Shakeology, and I was considering it until i really thought about it. From what I can see, you are drinking alot of nutrients. That is what is stopping me. Part of the nutrients and the benefit, esp of fiber, is that the body has to work to absorb them. A drink goes right into the system, and I am afriad that will mess up my incenlin (have been Diabeties free for almost 2 years from diet and excercise). So, i have not tried the Shakelogy, just make sure I get my nutrients in the food I am eating, and from supplements.
I do feel your pain, my husband is also dropping the weight a lot faster than I am. I am just glad he is ( I am sure you are happy about your hubbies sucess) but it is still frustrating.0 -
I started with ChaLEAN Extreme and had fantastic results (see below). I even got my husband on board too and he bulked up his muscles (which he wanted) and lost 15lbs. We're both thrilled. I drink Shakeology... I'm a relative clean food nut and this works for me for extra protein, plus I get my vitamins in and it's has no chemicals or artificial ingredients in it like many other shakes such as slimfast. Sure I could make my own smoothie each day w/ high grade whey and maca root and spirulina and kale, but I'm a busy mom on the go and this works for me. It's just part of our grocery budget. My husband likes the P90X recovery formula after a long workout or weight session.
We're now doing the New Rules of Lifting strength program (men for him/womens version for me, you can buy it on Amazon for about $10) and I'm loving it! I'm using TurboFire for some interval/HIIT training.
It is harder for women to drop weight and sculpt their bodies. Strength training and adequate protein consumption (40/30/30) have been key for me. Most women don't lift enough weights to make the changes their looking for in their physical appearance or to rev their metabolism enough. I eat 2000+ calories a day, b/c I strength train and I've gotta say, I love it! I never thought post-two children that I'd be a size 6 again. And with 10-15 more pounds to go it's crazy for me to realize I'm probably going to end up a size 4 and still be eating 2000+ calories a day. It's the way to go baby!!0 -
From what I hear Beachbody works very well, but imo there are cheaper approaches that work just as well. Supreme 90 is a pretty good program for $20, and from looking at clips and reviews of dvds on collagevideo.com I have found some really good dvds.0

Check out my blog... I have pics of my hubby on there and his transformation... P90x works!!! We did not use Shakeology but used Syntha 6 instead and our results were awesome. I am going to be starting again on July 1st because I have a vacation planned for this winter and I need to look HOT in a bathing suit. I should say that my hubby had better visible results the first round BUT I still lost 24 pounds and two pant sizes. This round should take me to a point where I share my before and after pics.
Maybe
Message me if you want more info.... I am not a BB coach, just a real live person with limitations and family committments but I was able to do it and have great results... I say it is money invested in yourself.
