Jean sizes gripe

Ok so I have A LOT of jeans and I love american eagle jeans, I have from sizes 8-11, I decided to clean out old jeans and I started trying them all on, now they were all american eagle and I found that some 8's fit and some 11's fit the same, some 11's were too tight, some were way to loose, same with the 10's and the 8's. This drives me crazy because now I have no clue what my size is. Why can't we be like mens jeans were it's in inches, never knowing what size you are depending on the brand and style of the jeans drives me frickin crazy and I can never order online, I would be sending most of them back AAAHHHH anyone else hate this too!! does anyone know why girls jeans are sized like they are and not like mens pants??

Yes, i hate this too. But there are stores that carry sizes in measurements rather than size numbers.0

I agree. It's gotten out of control. I am a size 2 in most clothes now. Really? Size 2. I don't think so.0

I have everything from a 4 to 11 in my jeans that currently fit. I agree that it stinks, and I'd much rather buy a 4 than anything more, but it's better to get something that fits than to sausage into something too small because of the number on the tag. Even within the same brand makes it all the more frustrating! I definitely hear where you're coming from on this :flowerforyou:0

I hate this too...nothing is consistent and jeans seem to be the worst. Maybe because women come in so many different shapes its hard to be consistent, but lord I wish they'd TRY!0

I don't know why, but it bugs the hell out of me too.
What I do is buy what fits my hips and legs and get the waist taken in.. that way I know they fit, and I'm not constantly guessing what size I am.0 -
it bugs me too, i'm kinda glad we don't have the same as mens jeans though, i don't want my waist size broad casted by my jean size lol0

7 for all mankind, True Religion, Joe's Jeans, or Lucky Brand are sized by waist size for both men and women's styles......0

I hate to tell you this ladies, but just because it says it's a 40-inch waist doesn't mean it is any more than all 8's are the same. I have pants of three different waist sizes, all of which fit the same. And I've gotten two pairs with identical waist size and identical brand, but one pair fit and the other didn't.0

If you're willing to spend the money some jean company's do my inches just like them!0 -
That's why I don't look at sizes. There is a place where I live where you just buy what fits and they will change the label in the tag to whatever you want it to say. I don't want my measurements written on the outside of my pants either, but I don't stress about what the size says. Just try on a few and find what works for you. And when you order online they almost always have a table that tells you if your measurement is this, then you wear this size in our clothes.0

It's called vanity sizing

men have the same issue. It's just whoever designed the jeans did that. I know what you are saying tho. I can wear a size 1 in one brand and in another brand I can be a size 7. Don't really let it get to you. It's not a big deal. Sure it's disappointing when you think you are a size 8, but you go to try some on at the store and they don't fit, but I would blame the designer, not yourself.
Pant sizes are so stupid to begin with. Don't let it get to you. Tell people you are a size 8 and wear the size that fits depending on the designer. That's what I do.0 -
It's not just jeans; it's clothing in general.
My wife bought me some smaller shirts last weekend. Even tho' they were sized the same, some were too loose, some were too tight, and some were just perfect. The fit was set by the manufacturer -- that is, all of the ones that were too loose were the same brand, the ones that fit were all the same brand, etc.0 -
Look. Men's sizing has gotten the same way. In a proper pair of dress trouser, I might be 35 while I have jeans that are size 32! Really?! I hate this vanity sizing stuff. It makes no sense.0

haha getting some good feedback, I don't care about the number because I want to say I can fit in a size 5 or whatever I just want to be able to not have to get 3 different sizes of jeans because I am not sure what will fit0
