So I weighed myself this morning right after waking up, after the restroom, and naked. I was 301. Well I drank 2 cups of coffee, a cup of tea, had 4 oz of chips, 12 oz of diet soda, and a few sips of water. At my doctor which was 7 hours later, it said I weighed 308. 7 pound difference... is my scale wrong?? I feel very discouraged after seeing that... I knew it'd be a little more but 7 pounds??? Sigh....

I always weigh more on the doctors scale.. Usually because I'm fully clothed and I have eaten and drank all day.

And to add, scales always weigh differently.

Yes, it's possible. ToM, clothing, food and beverage intake, different scale at the doctor's office...all can affect what the scale shows. Don't get caught up in the fluctuations on the scale throughout the day. Body weight is never constant. As long as your weight is trending downward over time (meaning weeks, months, etc..) you're good. You didn't gain 7 lbs of fat in one day.
Stick to what the weight shows when you weigh each morning under the same conditions, and don't sweat the rest.

I read somewhere that if you move your scale, it will be wrong. I move it everyday so is it wrong everyday??

^ This. The conditions must be constant, appx same time, clothes/no clothes, showered, not eaten, etc. This leaves the only possible variable of your weight. It will fluctuate from day to day to the amount of salt you consumed the previous day, whether you had a good night's sleep etc. Stay at it consistently and you will see the results you seek. :)

As long as you're not picking up and putting your scale in different rooms of the house, I think you're fine. :)

The flooring is the only thing I think that can SLIGHTLY affect the scale. You would always want it on a flat, solid surface... Not carpeting preferred... But honestly I don't think that that would affect it much IMO.

Don't let the 7lbs gained within the length of a gain get you... I gained/lost 9lbs overnight after eating a large amount and several bathroom visits once (not fun). You'll be fine. Like most people said, our weight fluctuates daily a and fluid depletion/retention plays a huge factor. :)

I move my scales everyday too. If you're worried, stand on it, then get it back to zero, and weigh yourself again. I've done this before and the weight was the same every time, so I don't think it makes a difference.

Sounds normal. I weigh myself naked first thing in the morning naked then after my breakfast smoothie and a glass of water i usually weigh myself again before my shower and im usually like 1 or more lbs more. Being full of fluid and your clothes will have a big effect

If daily fluctuations bother you then weigh daily but track your running average weight over a 7 or 14 day period. As long as you are averaging a deficit progress will come. Weekly average weight will also even out weekday vs weekend deficit/surplus differences if applicable

My scale sometimes changes when I move it. (Shrug.) It's not as if scales all over the world have a way to agree with each other, either.

For those of us with weight to lose for health's sake, the important point is that the overall trend - in weeks and months, not hours and days - is heading in the desired direction.

It's likely that what any one scale says at any moment isn't accurate, by up to a pound or two or even more. And that doesn't really matter, as long as it's somewhere in the near neighborhood.

Does it matter? Pick one scale and use it to monitor your progress. If another scale shows you are 10 lbs more or less, what does it matter?
