Does anyone else have a problem eating onions and garlic and things like that? If so does anything help?

What's the problem? Digestive issues? If so, then avoid them. If you don't like them, don't make yourself eat them.

I really want to like beets, but I just don't. I have tried them many different ways in many different things, and I just. don't. like. them. They're really good for you, and super nutritious, but I just can't do it.

So, if that's what onions are for you, don't beat yourself up about it. But I personally couldn't live without garlic.

Not being funny but if I knew onions were in certain things I would avoid them. If I prepare my own food I don't use onions. So yes I know not to eat them lol My thing is we can't always control the things we eat and I wanted to know if this happens to other people. For instance my fav. dish at Applebee's is the mac & cheese with the honey chicken tenders on top with bacon bits ....cool onion free you would think. Nope chopped onions are in it. Today I got a healthy choice steamer "Four-Cheese Ravioli & Chicken Marinara" the brief description says everything but onions lol but it contains onions. Guess i will have to do more back label reading.

Raw onions even the smell give me an instant headache. If someone cooks garlic bread at the house I get an instant headache. Cooked onions make me feel loopy....like tired, groggy, and a bit foggy in my head. Digestive issues? None I just get sick and nauseous when I consume raw onions and loopy like good pain meds with cooked onions weird huh?

    That is really strange...
I don't know what to say, other than pick them out if they truly bother you that way.

I love me some garlic and onion.

I think that's a strong enough reaction you could basically label it an intolerance/allergy. When eating out ask the server about hidden onions and explain they make you ill.

I get an instant headache from coffee. It's nice to know someone else experiences something similar.

Allergy or intolerance of onions and garlic can be quite common. And you're right, they're often not listed as a component on menus. You may just have to resign yourself to having the server check with the kitchen before you order, as I don't think there is really anything you could use as a preventative or to counter the effect.

My uncle doesn't like onions. When we go out as a family he specifically asks the server not to include them in his choice of meal. Most servers will be happy to make sure food is prepared to your preferences/allergies. Don't be shy, speak up and explain your intolerance then tip extra if at a nice restaurant or smile and thank them if it's a fast food place. Showing people you appreciate the effort they put into accommodating your request more than makes up for the minor inconvenience.

My grandfather swore that onions made him tired. We thought he was making it up, but now it looks like he wasn't.

I can eat cooked onions (love them fried especially) and absolutely adore garlic, but for some reason raw onions makes my gall bladder act up. So I always try to order food without onions and at family picnics I just skip the macaroni and potato salads

I'm quite opposed to cooked mushrooms. No reaction or anything, I just do not like them. So I pick around, and avoid dishes from restaurants that cannot take them out. Easy enoigh
