CICO for everything?

I've been doing well on a CICO method. I weigh everything (except sushi, I guesstimate there). There is another food I really like, and we're going to that restaurant this weekend. I love the veg black bean burger at Burger 21. I looked up its nutrition information. It's around 439 cals, 43 carbs, etc. Now if CICO really works with any food, that means I can have this "burger" and just fit it into my daily calorie count, right?

As long as it fits in your daily calorie limit, yes. CICO is about calories.You don't need to worry about macros for weight loss.2

You can have that burger and not even worry about your daily macros. Just enjoy it. That's a very reasonable amount of calories for a burger. If you're concerned about carbs (you only need to be if you have insulin issues), then just eat half the bun. But just enjoy it as a treat! A once-in-a-while treat is perfectly fine.2

Yes, you can eat anything! Enjoy it! If you're trying to hit certain macros, you may need to adjust other meals in your day to accommodate it .1

Yup. Keep in mind, that if it's made from scratch at the restaurant it's probably not weighed so the calories are going to fluctuate a bit, but for the most part yes, that's what CICO is, it's flexible dieting. If it fits your calories and macros then go for it.2

Yes, SINCE CICO really works, you would just need to alter whatever else you ate to ensure that at the end of the day, you have not gone over your calorie allotment.
However, I'm not sure what your question about macros is. Macros are for nutrition, CICO is simply an equation of calories, which are a unit of energy measurement. The one hasn't anything to do with the other for weight loss. Although the same could be said of your burger on the nutrition side as well. Alter whatever else you eat to ensure you keep your macro numbers where they want to be and enjoy the burger.2 -
Also, if you add any condiments, be sure to log those as well.1

Yes...CICO is just the energy equation. We don't get fat because of some particular food, we get fat when we consume energy (calories) in excess of what we need. Excess energy (calories) are stored as dietary fat...when we consume less energy (calories) than we need, our body burns fat for energy to make up that difference.4

I had a very berry strawberry shake at Steak n' Shake last night, which is 550 calories of pure awesomeness. It cracked me up this morning to see a pound drop on the scale
Anywhoo, yes you can eat pretty much whatever you want and still see weight loss, as long as you're hitting your calorie goals. When I was in my active weight loss phase I ate out several times a week and had no issues losing around 50lbs. I continued eating all the foods I liked, but I learned how portion sizes and calories worked, and I learned how to make the things I wanted to eat fit into my calorie parameters.

Yes. Though I also try to think 'big picture'. Such as will eating x for y calories be filling enough? And I make an effort to get the needed nutrition. Eating only veggies for example would leave me short on protein, healthy fats, grains... i eat pizza and lose weight. CICO isn't really a method so much as a biological fact - there are many methods to lose weight, and the bottom line to every one of them is that you eat less calories than you use.3

Yes it's okay to eat it, no issue. I prefer a Wendy's cheeseburger. As long as you don't abuse it and do it everyday there's nothing wrong with going over your limit once in awhile.
You can't look at this as a diet. You have to look at this as a lifestyle change, diets fail. Yesterday at work I celebrated losing 50 pounds since the beginning of the year, had ice cream and apple pie, tasted real good. I don't do this everyday cuz that would be suicide but if you treat yourself once in awhile there's nothing wrong with it. Makes this journey a positive and happy experience.

If you looked at my diary you would see Taco Bell, burgers, chips etc. if I couldn't have these things now and then I am confident I would have failed at weight loss ages ago.5

Yup. Depending on how its prepared it MAY be higher in sodium so if you see your weight fluctuate the key is to not flip out it will only be temporary.1

Same. Today I had a Butterfinger bar, a Twix packet, a soft pretzel, Capn Crunch cereal, Kind bar, watermelon, and a homemade quesadilla. But, I ran for thirty minutes and I've burnt almost 500 cals which is enough to burn off the Butterfinger bar and the Twix, so it balances out and I can eat more and still be within my cals for the day.1 -
You can even pork out at an all you can eat restaurant and still lose (eventually). Go for it.1
