I bought a pint of Ben and jerry's my boyfriend and I wanted to try. I want to bring it to his house tomorrow, will it be ok if it's out of the freezer in the car for 40 minutes? It hasn't been opened yet.

My favorite grocery stores are about a 45 minute drive and we've never had any trouble with our ice cream.

It might be kind of soupy. I highly doubt it will be spoiled.

When the outside bits refreeze you might have texture issues. You can dig past those and the rest of the ice cream should be fine.

Pack it in a cooler with an ice pack? A typical lunch sized cooler would be the perfect size for a pint of ice cream. Also depends on the weather conditions - South Texas in the summer and you'd have Ben & Jerry's soup in 45 minutes if you tried to take it somewhere without a cooler!

I would also say put it in a cooler with ice, ice packs, frozen bottle of water.

If you don't have a cooler, insulate with layers of newspaper, use ice packs and keep out of the sun (or away from the car heater if you are still in the chilly north!)

My grocery store is 35 minutes from my home, and I have an extra stop on the way home so it easily takes at least 45 minutes to get home. My ice cream is fine - just a little melty, but you can refreeze if needed, and if ice crystals appear, just scrape them away.
