Creating a home workout

I'm looking at creating a home workout to help me lose weight and build my strength. I've been looking at a few exercises from msn fitness and health and will be trying those as well and I'm going to look at some more and put together a routine that I can switch weekly. Please feel free to pass on any ideas I'm open to all and please feel free to add me as a friend as well.

I like fitness blender. They have their own site (Fitnessblender.com) but I use their youtube channel. Tons of workouts, all difficulty levels.

Fitness Blender rocks. Free workouts, over 400 of them, great variety. They also have programs for a small fee. I use their actual website for their search engine, and for the personal calendar - I can plan out my week and load my workouts into the calendar, then all I have to do is click and press play for that day's workout. If you use one of their programs, it populates the calendar days for you - even easier.

Down to earth, no gimmicks or nonsense, just good workouts and advice from this husband and wife team. Strength, yoga, pilates, HIIT, tabata, kettlebells, body weight exercises, dumbbells - they cover a lot of stuff, prefect for home workouts.

I do videos that incorporate strength with cardio: 30 day shred, ripped in 30, Denise Austin (body boot camp and others), The Firm (esp. 500 calorie workout and super cardio mix). You mostly need dumbbells and some space. I like to mix it up! Find something you enjoy.

What type of activities do you enjoy? I workout at home and over time have added items to my space that go along with interests that include various forms of cardio and strength training. It can cost little (body weight exercises) or it can cost as much as you want it to (gear - sky's the limit). Clarify your interests and build your space around that. Just know that interests over time can change and that's okay.

For example, I have - Spin Bike, Concept2 Rower, Treadmill, assortment of dumbbells, stability ball & mat. I've done a handful of videos from Fitness Blender which led to doing the Beachbody Hammer / Chisel program. This all came over time starting with the treadmill and stability ball/mat.

Ultimately, it's up to you to define what you want for your space.

I tried for months to set myself some workouts to do at home with no equipment but I found that I'd do them once or twice and then not again. This last week I've started doing workout videos from utube and I'm loving it. There is so much variety for all fitness levels, there's short videos if you're pressed for time and there's long videos if you want a big workout. There's alot of workouts that don't need any equipment. Fitness blender is good and also tonight I did a Walk At Home workout which I really enjoyed. The biggest advantage for me using the videos over trying to just go it alone is that they set a pace for you to follow. When working our on my own it's to easy to get sidetracked but when I'm following someone it keeps me motivated.

    Good luck on your journey.

There are lots of free videos on You Tube, including, step, HIIT, and weight lifting videos. As far as equipment, I originally invested In an aerobics step that didn't cost a lot, a few Dumbbells, and resistance bands. I eventually bought an elliptical but it's not necessary to buy something that expensive. I've lost over 40 pounds so far by working out at home, journaling what I eat and staying within my calorie limits. Good luck to you!
