I'm on week 7 of C25K and today I realized something might be wrong with my hip. For the last few runs I would get sore toward the end of the run and my hip would really ache. I figured it was just muscular soreness. Today during my run I felt something as if something pulled away from the socket and I've had a lot of lateral pain in my hip area. I looked it up and the only thing I found that it might be is Trochanteric Bursitis. I'll probably go to the chiropractor tomorrow but now I'm fretting over my workouts. I've been on a roll and don't really want to give up my runs - i've gotten kind of addicted. The only other exercise I could do is swim but I really don't have much endurance. I also have a bike I might be able to use if I can get some child care. Anyway, has anyone else had this kind of pain? What did you do to keep working out? How did you keep yourself from making excuses to not work out?

i get hip pain but i dont think it's the same kind of thing. I feel like i have a bubble in my hip socket that feels like it wants to pop - my hips are also very clicky. Mine is caused by flexibility (or lack thereof) and if i do stretches and training for the splits is when it usually hurts - also a couple of my pole moves tend to make it feel as though it has 'popped' out.

i go an see my physio when i can afford to, and i try and stretch as much as i can.. in regards to c25k - are you stretching before and after> because that may have something to do with it. :) good luck. sore hips suck. xx

I love running, but I'm not as consistent as I should be so I get alot of overuse injuries. My IT band is always bothering me. I have started doing more aduction and abduction strengthening and lots of stretching. It seems to work for me. And I also back off from my running and do yoga or pilates. Something still challenging but not as harsh on my body. Oh, and I also ice my legs and hips. Sometimes if its really sore but I have a race or long distance to cover I'll tape up with KT tape. I used it for the first time during a half marathon and I did a PR.

I had problems with my hip and went to the doctor. For me it was the Bursitis. He had me ice it for 20 minutes at a time every time I sat down. I took Ibuprofen for the pain. He told me no exercising except for the sheet he gave me for the Bursitis. He wanted me to do physical therapy, but who has time for that with kids. Now anytime it starts hurting I just try to take it easy for a few days and ice it. Then I slowly work my way back up to my normal workouts.

Sorry you're in pain. I know it's not fun. I hope this helps.

I was talking to a friend who is training for a Marathon and he was saying that this sort of injury is a regular occurrence amongst runners. It's got something to do with your hip locking up and you need to get it unlocked by a physio or something. He gets his looked at every few weeks, Ive started to have the same problem so I'm going to go to the physio too see if I can get it fixed as well.

( I also have a bike I might be able to use if I can get some child care). I don't know if you've ever seen or tryed this but my son Absolutely loves going on rides he goes and gets in the cart I guess to tell me to hurry up. He's two now but I've been takeing him in his baby carseat from the time he was 3 weeks old. In the summer I got a two litter soda dumped the soda and put water in it, freeze it than stick it beside him or under his feet to keep him a little cooler. It gets about 95 to 105 degrees around here. <http://www.amazon.com/Schwinn-Trailblazer-Double-Bicycle-Trailer/dp/B001GAPU9O/ref=sr_1_17?s=cycling&ie=UTF8&qid=1309233005&sr=1-17> or what ever bike trailer you like
