Well, to say I have one is an understatement, but as of this morning, there is only ONE thing that drives me BONKERS on the MFP boards....
When someone is looking for recipes, cooking advice, etc, they usually put if they have vegetarian lifestyles, which is kind of important. WHY OH WHY would you recommend chicken and other MEAT as suggestions for their meals?! It only goes to show people dont take the extra two minutes to actually read someones entire post before they go typing away. Its happened a lot in the last two days and it makes me annoyed for my vegetarian friends!!
Sorry in advance, I woke up on the wrong side of the MFP bed...:grumble: :grumble:

Come back to bed and cuddle. It'll be all right.0 -
yes, I was just thinking that and I'm not even a vegetarian. READ people!0
-
Probably not much of a consolation.
I read an article last year that suggested that it was a regular occurrence on the internet in general. People don't read.0 -
I would say that those people are trying to be helpful and just didn't read the post carefully. The MOST GRACIOUS thing is to just say thanks and don't use the recipe!! For goodness sakes, they are trying to be helpful don't kill the good for the perfect.
My Biggest Pet Peeve are people who aren't polite and get hurt feelings about EVERYTHING!!! The world doesn't center around you! Learn to be gracious.0 -
I have this AWESOME bbq rib rub recipe.. just kidding. I read your whole post and couldn't help myself. I hope you find your smile today. = )0

I totally get what your saying...But its like telling a diabetic to go eat 20 oz of fruit with a extra sugar added on top.0 -

ROFL
I'm not a vegetarian myself, just shouting out for the vegetarians MFPers haha
Mind if I have that recipe July 4th IS just around the corner!!0 -
LOL - I know, but in fairness, they probably type before they've though about it! I'm sure we all know people who open their mouths without thinking!
It's not just recipes though: someone last week told me I deserve to die if I kill a bee! :noway:
What I'd actually said was that despite being highly allergic to bee stings, I'd *never* consider killing one! Mind you, if someone is so opinionated as to say I deserve to die, then perhaps I shouldn't be too surprised that s/he didn't actually read my post properly!
The meat for vegetarians thing though is bizarre - in many cultures, foods like ham, bacon, and even chicken aren't considered particularly meaty, so must therefore be suitable for vegetarians! My partner on a recent business trip to Paris, ordered a cheese omelette, which was marked as 'suitable for vegetarians' ....when it arrived, it had ham in it! The waiter was very confused when K sent it back and asked for one with no meat!
Of course, the other thing is when people ask for gluten or dairy free suggestions.....but perhaps that's more a case of others not really appreciating the finer points of specialist diets. My Biggest Pet Peeve are people who aren't polite and get hurt feelings about EVERYTHING!!! The world doesn't center around you! Learn to be gracious.
But surely it does....no really, I've read their posts. They're all me, me, me.... so it must be true! :laugh:0 -

Maybe some extra cuddles IS what I need!!!0 -
People don't read my emails at work, either. People just don't read.0
-
Maybe they thought chicken is a vegetable! haa haa!
I don;t know why people would comment before actually reading. I don't get it either.0 -

because they don't know how...
j/k - well kinda....0 -
Haha, I agree. People do it with everything, though. You'll say you're not going to stop drinking but ask for better recommendations, and people tell you not to drink. You say you're looking for good advice on what to eat since you're not going to stop eating out and people tell you not to eat out. I mean, I get that it's nice that people are trying to help, but if you're asking for advice and setting the parameters, why bother giving advice outside those parameters? You took the time to respond, why not take the time to read too? Or not respond if your advice is going to be something they said they won't do? I read one the other day where someone was saying she was having chinese food, and like 5 people said don't eat chinese food. I mean, she already said she was, what is the point of telling her not to? (for example. This has been bugging me for awhile)0

my pet peeve is when people go out of their way to be rude to people for no reason other than being b*tchy.
if you dont like what the OP says shut your trap. the internet is filled with peoples thoughts and opinions and if you have to be rude to feel better, then im glad im not your "friend" here or anywhere else.
DISCLAIMER: i say that cause im in a good mood. if i were in a bad mood, the above statement takes a flying leap out the window - im one-sided like that0 -
Thank you!!!!!!!0

It's not wong to drink beer this early in the morning.0

I know the world doesn't revolve around me, I was speaking out for the vegetarians! They have a harder time getting a variety of vitamins etc! Myself....I'll take a bacon cheeseburger any day
I don't think I was the only one a little high strung this morning0 -

I didn't see that as having a pop at you, Aims - I saw it more as a general statement about some of the more....ummmm.... sensitive people on MFP. Y'know, the sort who accuse you of hating *their* kids because you happened to mention that you saw a badly-behaved child in the supermarket!0 -

Coming from a vegetarian....
People DON'T read, true, but a lot of people aren't quite sure what a vegetarian DOES eat. I was served chicken one time (after I told the host I was vegetarian), and she said "Chicken isn't meat, they are fowl!" Some people eat fish and consider themselves vegetarian. It makes things tricky for the rest of the vegetarian population.0 -

When I was vegan, I used to get the same....but I sort of understood that because a lot of people have a hard time getting their heads around things like eggs, dairy and honey (and I don't actually believe it's possible to be 100% vegan in the 21st century).
Although I don't eat meat, per se, I no longer call myself vegetarian because I've recently introduced shellfish into my diet, although I eat veggie 99% of the time. But I completely see your point about people who call themselves vegetarian yet eat fish....must be very confusing for omnivores!0 -
