Do you have to have gps on to caliculate your steps?

  I'm assuming you meant "Steps."
  
  It might depend on what kind of device you have, but at least for the iPhone, I don't think you need GPS on to calculate your steps.

  Depends what device you're using to track your steps but usually GPS is not required.
